What we know is that our northern border is where the terrorists came through.

Uh oh, sounds like Angle is one of those who thinks all the 9/11 hijackers entered the U.S. from Canada (something which is completely and utterly false but still gets repeated as fact from time to time).

To the best of my recollection, there are only two cases of terrorists entering the U.S. from Canada. This is in contrast to, for example, the nineteen 9/11 hijackers who entered the U.S. directly from overseas on properly obtained U.S. visas.

You don't need the new ID card. You simply need to check the SS numbers submitted when an employer sends withheld taxes to the IRS.

The companies that make high tech ID cards would love such a requirement. But they are not needed in an era where we have instant worldwide communications and online databases. It's not like the old days when information traveled at the speed of a man on a horse and had to be checked against paper records.

Checking SS numbers from the IRA data has actually been tried in the past. The problem is it worked too well. The companies that were raided complained bitterly to their Congressman and the practice was stopped.

Funny thing is that much of the demand for immigration enforcement comes from conservative working class Republicans. Much of the demand to not enforce immigration laws comes from upper class Republicans who own businesses or need a maid.

Nah, just have mandatory sentencing guidelines for people who hire illegal immigrants and then offer amnesty, cash and a green card to any illegal worker who turns in their employer.
