Happy Birthday John Lennon.

Saying happy Birthday to a man who's pro-socialist protesting aided in the murders of thousands of Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians in the 1970's and 80's....

30 years and still gone...good.

"I'm sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics"

"All I want is the truth.
Just gimme some truth."

John Lennon was part of the leftist gang of thugs who aided the North Vietnamese, the Khumer Ruge and the Patet Lao in bringing mass murdering communism to South East Asia.

John Lennon was a socialist war criminal and on December 8th 1980 his death sentence was carried out. Good shooting David!

We haven't had to hear Lennon's "Give B.S. a chance." mouth for 30 years now!

The other night, after working my third straight 20-hour day, I went to my local 24-hour supermarket at 2AM. When I walked in, they were playing "Watching The Wheels" on the PA. I was walking on air the and sang the rest of the song out loud, not really caring how bad my voice sounded.

Happy Birthday; John.

A few years ago I enjoyed a concert by a well regarded local Beatles cover band. The last song of the set was "Let It Be"

I was stunned to see so many audience members openingly crying through the song, and yes I was one of them. In that momment of clarity the answer to the issues that dominated our lives both on a personal and as a society was so simple, so clear, so obvious.

Let It Be

The Beatles took us on so many personal journeys. Almost unique in the field of popular music, they seemed to understand us, seemed to just know what was wrong

From the immense sadness of Elenor Rigby to the enthusiasm of "Getting Better, they touched us

I know my life is better for having heard their music. My life is also a little more empty because there'll never be anymore.

Thanks John and the rest of the Fab Four - you (in at least one instance) made a difference

John Lennon was, for the last 10 years of his life at least, pro-peace, anti-war, anti-violence, pro-creativity, pro-art, anti-censorship, pro-fatherhood, anti-ignorance, pro-love.

He was and is a personal hero of mine. My sister loved him and so do I. I cherish his memory, his assertive self-expression, his limitless musical boundaries and his poetic lyrical craftsmanship.

John, you are missed. :)

You are indeed a wise person

I'm crazy about John Lennon, but if I never hear "Imagine" again, it will be too soon. Yeah, imagine all that stuff if you like, but get back to reality, dude. Religion and "Country" aren't going away. We have to deal with it.

"All You Need is Love"?

"Give Peace a Chance"?

Sorry John. The world needs more than slogans.

You are obviously right, however we have to dream of something before we can ever achieve it.

Have you read this thread? The answer is "many people who have hope that violence, war and hatred can one day be replaced by peace, love and understanding".

Imagine a world that doesn't require these things. This is not that world. John did not live in that world, but he did imagine it. He was human, like you and me, and like you and me he appreciated comfort and security. I for one do not excoriate him for benefiting from his accomplishments.

Hey John Lennon, Go **** Yerself

Like John, and like the US Constitution, I support your right to say to express your hatred and opposition to any idea you care to hate and oppose.

besides Axl Rose is a better songwriter than you ever were.

Pizza is better than fried chicken. Or is it?

You know, after all the "lost weekend" excesses and the angry protest songs and the experimental noise and then his long hiatus, it was really touching to see him get back to material like this:

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" -- one of my favorite lines of his.

It's a shame we don't still have him with us, but at least he was able to have what he had at the end... a stable life, a family, the little pleasures of being a dad.
