Leonard Woolf, husband of Virginia Woolf, who was himself Jewish and a friend of Eliot's, judged that Eliot was probably "slightly anti-Semitic in the sort of vague way which is not uncommon. He would have denied it quite genuinely."[50] In 2003, Professor Ronald Schuchard of Emory University published details of a previously unknown cache of letters from Eliot to Horace Kallen, which reveal that in the early 1940s Eliot was actively helping Jewish refugees from Germany and Austria to re-settle in Britain and America. In letters written after the war, Eliot also voiced support for the state of Israel.[51]

You might be surprised that many old authors had pretty awful ways of thinking. Mark Twain hated Indians, and Lovecraft was pretty bigoted.

Well, the Republican party as an organization has denounced him. If people still vote for him I would say some are probably racists, and others don't watch the news and vote for whoever the republican is (because I expect he'll still be on the ballot as a republican). I am personally of the belief (based entirely off of anecdotal evidence) that the republican party has a higher percentage of racists than the democratic party - but I don't think whether or not this guy gets ANY votes can prove anything. Maybe if he won by a landslide you could come to some conclusions about the republicans in that area though.

No that would not be a good test and I hope you know it. If no one in the republican party is either racist or doesn't know anything about him or is willing to overlook racist views because of other issues that are important to them then he wont get any votes .

A lot of voters will go into the booth and vote the party line and not know anything about the candidates. This holds true for all parties.

This guy is an idiot. Didn't anyone in the GOP tell him that the racism is supposed to remain veiled in code, like calling your opponents Kenyan or secret Muslim? Sheesh, he's just too honest and blunt. He needs to learn to be dishonest about his racism, just like the rest of the party.
