Seismic event indicating explosion at WTC

Because the collapse started where the steel infrastructure had been weakened by fire.

Seriously...the situation you're proposing is physically impossible.

You and bill smith will get along just nicely, because you both believe in "quiet bombs". They don't, didn't, and won't ever exist.

Read what people are telling you. Stop this nonsense.

A seismic event registered several seconds before the onset of the collapse, that's what physically impossible without something causing that.

But those core columns are supporting all of the floors in between the ground and impact zone. Sever those columns, and the whole building collapses starting from that point.

There is a similar delay, about 10 seconds, for each tower. This would be the time it took for the core structure to start collapsing at the weakest point/floors.

Anders,
Did you miss the part where the chart you posted proves that it wasn't a bomb?

I'm no expert on seismology, but that looks similar to an earthquake signature to me, which would be similar to a massive explosion in the basement.

Why would there be a 10 second delay? If you sever columns in the base...

Oh nevermind...this is pointless. I'll just kick back and wait for the Stundies. :)

"There is no scientific basis for the conclusion that explosions brought down the towers," Lerner-Lam tells PM. "That representation of our work is categorically incorrect and not in context."
The report issued by Lamont-Doherty includes various graphs showing the seismic readings produced by the planes crashing into the two towers as well as the later collapse of both buildings. WhatReallyHappened.com chooses to display only one graph (Graph 1), which shows the readings over a 30-minute time span.
On that graph, the 8- and 10-second collapses appear—misleadingly—as a pair of sudden spikes. Lamont-Doherty's 40-second plot of the same data (Graph 2) gives a much more detailed picture: The seismic waves—blue for the South Tower, red for the North Tower—start small and then escalate as the buildings rumble to the ground. Translation: no bombs.

Judging by the camera angle, the camera is positioned fairly close to the building, so a huge explosion should perhaps have been heard..

The 1993 explosion was heard on the street outside the 16 complex and by people up both towers.

I'll repeat myself, in bigger text this time:

Wrong...because the core columns were visible for a few seconds after the collapse. If they were severed, we would not see them at all.

Do some research...for the love of pete...

This means that my initial post still stands.

Ermmm....No.

The entire event shown here lasted for about 20+ seconds. There is not sudden spike before the debris started hitting the ground. There is a gradual build-up of activity.

Somewhere around here there is a graphic of the seismic readings from the bombing of the Ruhr dams during WWII, That will show you what an explosive signal should look like.

Anders Lindman has now been successfully added to your ignore list. You will now be returned to where you were.

I haven't researched whether the 9/11 explosion in the basement was heard by people. I have heard a lot of talk about people hearing a big explosion, but I'm not sure when they heard that, if it was some 10 or 12 seconds prior to the start of the collapses or not.

But as seismic waves travel through the ground they become smeared out due to dispersion.

Totally wrong. An explosion in the basement would :

a) Be represented as a sudden sharp spike and a sudden drop-off, similar to the sudden spike of the impact of the aircraft.

b)Cause the building to start to disintegrate at the bottom.

Great specimen of FAIL.
