As I've mentioned several times, Hitler expressed his desire to invade the USSR in 1925.

IMO it would have been another 2 years before Russia would have been able to even consider an invasion, after the war with Finland and the continued threat of a Japanese invasion on their eastern border. This is not to say that Stalin didn't want to invade further into eastern Europe, but he would have needed much more time and quite a bit can change in two years (such as being attacked by a party you had signed a non-agression pact with).

December 1940?

Or about Hitler stating some 6 months earlier that the victories in western europe had freed his hands to attack the Soviet Union?

Or that Directive 21 was issued after Hitler had seen the plans for the invasion, meaning planning had been going on for some time?

You really should read some real history books instead of the utter tosh you keep trotting out on here.

So the Russians should have been ready to fight. Why weren't they ready to fight?

Even if they weren't going to attack, as most historians agree, their behavior was pretty bizarre. When a German spy plane ran out of fuel and had to land at a Soviet base, they not only didn't detain and question the spy, they refueled his plane and allowed him to leave!*

Why would they do this if they were prepared to attack?

Germans were emigrating way before that. My own ancestors arrived in 1734 to escape religious persecution. This immigration was encouraged by the Quakers of Pennsylvania who had a lot of land in need of tending (and not enough quakers).

Germans immigrated to the US almost constantly but they had another big surge when Germany united in the late 19th century and Bismark was making life difficult to his opposition. As a result Bucks, Berks and Montgomery counties in PA are littered with mid-level defunct German nobility.

No offense, but your sources are crap. Suvorov is a crackpot. Here is what he says in response to his critics who say his methodology is flawed:

If a hundred secret agents are reporting one way, and one sounds out of place and makes no sense, deal with him. No one will trust him or you, they will laugh at you, and they will not believe you. But this is how great discoveries are made.

This is classic crackpot-speak. "Since people don't agree with me and my findings are controversial, I must be onto something!"

Why? Germans have been coming to the US for well over a century. There has been a thriving German community in Texas since it first became a state, centered around the city of New Braunfels, where both my wife's ancestors and my own settled in the 1800's.

We recently visited the city of Fredricksburg, another old German town in Texas. Admiral Chester Nimitz came from there, and it now has a quite impressive complex of WWII museums.

German-Americans are the largest ethnic group in this country, and have been since long before WWII.

I couldn't remember the exact date, but knew it was end of 1940.

Looking at infantry mobilisation, there were only two waves in 1941, so the bulk of infantry had already been mobilised. In fact there were 4 waves after the fll of France (July, August, October, November, pulled from here). Note there were only two in 1941.

Wonder what they could possibly have been mobilising for?

You didn't post a quote from Keitel. You posted a quote from Suvarov, who has been shown to making stuff up, saying that Keitel agreed with the stuff Suvarov made up. I don't think Keitel ever said anything like that in reality.
