The "Nakba" Myth

I've lost count of the "Holocaust, get over it" posts by Parky/Thunder. Not that far away from the views of Matt Giwer. Don't like this opinion? Cry me a river.

I do not deny the Holocaust nor blame Jews for the Holocaust.

Very very poor analogy. Shocking.

:)

well, never mind. Your getting support from your soulmate "skeptic" gotta be proud of that achievement.

now, back to the Nakba.

it happened. just like the Holocaust happened. folks need to stop denying the suffering of others.

Can you show us an example of this "Nakba denial" that you speak of?

please tell me you are joking...

he says "they both happened" and you want to present this as evidence that he has said that there is little difference between the two.

are you serious?

I'm absolutely sure you can't bother looking because you would not find anything to support your cheap slur. But please don't let fear of failure stop you from trying. Sorry to harp on about this but after a while I just get so sick of baseless driveby slurs...like claiming a %^*&ing racist holocaust denier is someones soulmate. Have a good look at yourself.

Hey, you ran with the "Nabka Denier" theme once too. IIRC, you weren't able to identify exactly what "Nabka denial" was either. Do you want to have another shot at it now?

 from this very thread.

They need to get over it if they want to live side by side with Israel. Constantly referring to the Nabka is not going to help bring peace, it will only further resentment and animosity towards Israel.

i agree.

The problem is that some people are comparing the Nakba to the Holocaust, which is completely insane.

It's a cheap rhetorical tactic called poisoning the well.

obsessing over one's suffering is the LAST thing Israelis should be demanding from the Palestinians.

talk about irony.

The problem is that the "source" of the Palestinians' suffering according to their Nakba is Israel itself, so how are these people going to live side by side in peace if they constantly refer to the other as the source of all their misery?

well they are sure not really comparable. Still for both groups of people they are remembered as tragic events.

And saying "get over it" seems only acceptable for one of the events.

You just agreed they are not comparable, so why do you compare them again? Reducing them to mere "events" is not going to make the comparison work better.

Try to be consistent.
