Good places to publish amateur essays and writings

I was wondering if any of you know of a website to post your essays on. My essays cover topics that are of interest to the skeptic community (homeopathy, astrology etc.) and I wish to know where I could publish, or post, some of my reports on such subjects; doing so anonymously is preferable. My writings are not intended for the academy (I'm just an amateur at this) so leave out universities and colleges. Also, I am already aware that I can post my material on the JREF forums and even deviantart.com so leave those out.

Posts, comments and suggestions are appreciated.

I find it easy to use. It is made for writers not computer experts. But depending on your computer skills you may find it challenging. But you can just use the simple defaults.

Other people use wordpress http://wordpress.com/ I do not know anything about it so someone else may be able to tell you about the ease of use etc.

The important thing to do is to write often and promote yourself. If you write interesting stuff and people will start following your blog. Which is a good way to get read, however unless your really good I would not expect to get rich, at least not right away.

You could try Scribd if you want to publish online, or maybe lulu if you were thinking about publishing in print.

Don't ignore local newspapers; they are crying for content and particularly like not having to pay for it. Ditto with the online magazines and sites like OpEd News.

I concur with the recommendation of blogger; it's free and easy to use, but has some powerful features. But go to http://www.blogger.com (not https, which is a redirect for people already using the site and having a cookie which automatically logs them in).
