Windows 7 users, what is your "Windows Experience Index Base Score"?

If you click Start and then Games, you'll see a box in the lower right corner that says "Check your computer's Performance Information". Underneath that you'll see "Current System" followed by a number. What's your number?

You can also find it in Control Panel by selecting Performance Information and Tools, where the number is referred to as your "Base Score". You can click Re-run the assessment in the lower right corner to run the test again. It takes a few minutes.

My score is 3.7. Apparently it's limited by my graphics card and something called "Desktop performance for Windows Aero", whatever that is.
 
5.9, because of my "hard disk transfer rate". My next lowest score is 6.6.

eta: maybe because I have one old IDE disk (in addition to my SATA RAID 1) that I use for backing up pics?

5.9 on my desktop and laptop, both due to the hard drive. I have a 10000 RMP veolicraptor HD in my desktop, but apparently you can't get above 5.9 on your hard drive without using a fast ssd. The WEI only measure your primary HD so your IDE drive shouldn't impact your score.

Towlie, the windows aero experience score is just a measure of how well your graphics card deals with the fancy graphic in windows 7 if you turn them on- so it sounds like your system score is being brought down by your graphics card, not that the score means a whole lot.

Maybe, but I have all SATA and I'm rated at 5.1 or 5.3 depending, with HD transfer being my lowest score.
 
5.9 is my lowest, because of the hard disk as well. It's a contemporary 7200rpm SATA-300 drive. The scores apparently aren't particularly linear. The integer portion a major performance milestone, and the decimal minor ones. So, I would guess that in terms of actual throughput, there's probably a lot of variation for systems that all get 5.9.
 
I'm in the same boat as everybody else: 5.9 because of the HD. The rest are:
processor: 7.0
RAM: 7.2
Graphics: 7.2
gaming graphics: 7.2
 
11.0 - right across the board.

I'm also getting 5.9 for primary hard disk with my two SATA drives in RAID 1, and I'm getting 5.8 for gaming graphics. Processor is 6.5 (AMD dual-core) and memory is 7.2 (4 GB of RAM)

I wonder what the practical difference is between "graphics" (3.7) and "gaming graphics" (5.8), and if I should be concerned about it.

Whereas my old laptop which I replaced with this one a month ago got low 2s across the board.
 
Maybe they're sizing up whoever can turn off that damn CAPS LOCK icon that locks up the keyboard for 3 full seconds.
 
6.0, for some reason, on my main machine. Must get it higher!!!! (The highest number the rating system can currently reach is 7.9)

Must upgrade video card and hard drive!!! Must achieve ultimate bragging rights, soon!!! Aaaarrrrghh!!!


(My laptop is much lower, somewhere in the 3's. :o )

This thread is going to be biased: Those with higher numbers will have a greater propensity to post, than those with low ones.

As far as the graphics scores go, you could check to see if you have the latest drivers for your video card, but if it ain't broke...
 
My laptop: 5.1 overall, individual scores range from 5.1 to 5.9.
My Desktop: oddly, it says it can't come up with a score. But I know it's much faster than my laptop. Yes, nobody could say that I didn't have a potent desktop computer. Hey, never had any complaints about the speed of my computer, right? I mean, it's fast enough. And, after all, is speed really that important? You know what women say-

why is everyone looking at me like that?

Desktop graphics - 4.1
Gaming graphics - 3.4
HDD - 5.9

Fairly low scores, but it is an ultraportable laptop with integrated graphics. Weight and battery life were the important factors when I bought it.

sure. that's what they say. but according to experts, a small disk(along with a few other shortcomings) can stop you from receiving a score.

Have you checked to make sure the tool is not running?
 
As far as I'm concerned Microsoft can shove their score up their bum. I rate it 0. If it can manage to cope with turning the monitor off without resetting the screen resolution, I'll consider upping it to an actual number. Meanwhile, it rates zero.
