It was a fictional letter from the head of the NAACP to Abe Lincoln, meant to be satirical. Does it say anywhere those are the views of Mark Williams?
I happen to agree with Williams in the sense that black people don't need the Democrats, NAACP or anyone else to hold their hands. There are many great black Americans, it only demeans them when it is implied they need special treatment.
Pulling out the race card ad nauseum is getting a little tired.
The man is not a comedian, he is a
politician, and racist satire has
no place in politics whatsoever, period. It was on his blog, it clearly
does represent his views, and if this type of rhetoric is what the Tea Party stands for, everyone involved in the Tea Party ought to reconsider whether or not this is the type of person they want representing them.
Blacks are American citizens with the same rights and privileges as any other citizens whether the Tea Party likes it or not. This country cannot afford to have shallow and bigoted people in positions of great power. If the Tea Party condones this type of "satire" from its high-ranking members, they would disenfranchise 12.8% of loyal, taxpaying Americans. If this attitude is acceptable in the Tea Party, then the Tea Party
does not deserve to hold any elected offices in the United States. They simply aren't mature enough to be trusted with that kind of responsibility over the lives and rights of American citizens.
I ask again, as many other people who oppose the Tea Party do: Where was the Tea Party before we had a black president? Where was the concern for the deficit when George W. Bush was busy running it through the roof with wars and tax cuts for the rich? Remember, when Clinton left office, there was a $128 billion SURPLUS. By the time Bush left, there was a $482 billion DEFICIT. Where was the Tea Party when Bush was blowing $610 billion? Riddle me that.
