CBS Bob Schieffer Misses Opportunity to Hold Holders Feet To Fire

"States and local governments can certainly help the federal
government enforce immigration laws. What we're saying is that
they cannot pass laws that are inconsistent with the federal laws,
or do things that contravene federal policy when it comes to the enforcement of our immigration laws. And the Arizona statute, if
you look at the guts of it, really puts in place a whole variety
of things that are inconsistent with what we have decided to do as a federal government. And it is on that basis that we decided to

This was Bob Schieffer's cue to ask Holder if the federal government was going to initiate a suit against sanctuary cities. Schieffer must have missed this question of the clueless Press Secretary Bob Gibbs.

state and local laws cannot undo federal law. but they can add to them.

it is possible that Arizona can use this argument.

He could have asked him about donuts too. Why didn't Schieffer ask him about donuts?
 
Would be nice if AG Holder could explain why he has not initiated any suits against Maine, Oregon, New Jersey, California, Texas, Colorado, New York, etc.
 
One could almost excuse Schieffer for not asking Holder about the Obama Justice Department dropping a voter intimidation case against the Black Panthers. Since CBS never reported the incident or the case, he probably doesn't know anything about it.

Or it could be that he doesn't give a rat's because it doesn't matter to rational people.
 
Cicero, you're surprised at the lack of follow-up questions on Sunday morning blab shows? Really? That's like playing computer Spider Solitaire and being surprised there is the right number of cards in the end.

None of these shows do a decent job of follow-up questioning. In fact, there was recently a discussion about how decent follow-up and fact checking could be instituted.

It's all about access. If a host leans on a big name guest, that guy will not come back, ratings decline, profits go down, blah, blah, blah. In fact, I suspect that guests and producers agree ahead of time on what subjects will and will not be covered. I'll bet "no follow up questions" is often part of the deal.

Is that your real world? I prefer the real world where real life journalists do not acquiesce to stipulations before interviewing a representative of the federal government. AG Holder is indeed loathe to grant interviews. However, once CBS got him to come on with Schieffer, what difference would it make if he never showed up again if Schieffer asked all the tough questions now?

POTUS Obama was not granted any stipulations when he spoke with FOX News Bret Baier. You see, it is possible.

Hey Einstein, that is an AP story. Where did CBS do it's own reporting? Can you show where the story was reported on CBS News, as on the Network? You would do better sticking to your donuts.

Yeah, I'd prefer that situation prevail. It doesn't. And citing one interview with the President does not overturn my general point.
