Women hire hookers to get better divorce settlements.

My ex-wife tried this back in the eighties. The ho she hired was a lousy actor, even though she was also attractive, and I suspected that I was being set up for something.

"If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is."

Corollary 1:

"If a hot babe comes out of nowhere to proposition you, then it's likely not you that she's interested in."

Corollary 2:

"Beware of bimbos baring breasts."

I thought this already happened in the UK and the USA? Wasn't there a TV show in the USA that was about people who did this?

I wonder if this will catch on in the states or europe? Japanese women hire hookers to seduce their husbands so thaey can get a better divorce settlement.
Don't know about Europe, but I doubt it will become widespread in US:
Women initiate 75 percent of Japanese divorces — 27 percent of marriages end in one, a rate that has doubled in the past 15 years — but unless they have hard proof of infidelity or some other wrongdoing, they risk being awarded pitiful payouts by the courts.
American divorce courts are (usually) very generous toward women already, and if set-up is discovered it could backfire very badly.

Thanks 'Darat'!

That is about what I was thinking as well. Also, the TV show you have in mind is called Cheaters and it is good for a quick laugh.

Yes. This has helped me avoid a lot of trouble.

Corollary 1:

"If a hot babe comes out of nowhere to proposition you, then it's likely not you that she's interested in."

The problem here is, the seductress arranges to run into her victim twice. The first time seems innocent enough and sets up the second encounter. The second time, she asks if he wants to go get a drink somewhere. He has probably been thinking of her and she indicates she has been thinking of him. It doesn't seem to come out of nowhere. Clever.

It depends on the situation. At a bar during bike week, it's pretty common to see them. You are fine as long as you look but don't touch. The Mrs. and I were at a place in Myrtle Beach this year and she went to the restroom. She came back and told me there was a girl in there with no shirt, just flowers painted on her body. She took a picture and showed it to me. When the girl came by our table, the Mrs. pointed her out. Paint girl told us she was mad because guys can go topless but girls can't. Now if paint girl had come on to me as I was going to the restroom, I would have distanced myself pretty quick.

Divorce in Japan is very common but very complex. Here's an interesting article from an ex-husband's perspective. Essentially, there are three types of divorce, and for couples who have children and joint assets, there is no such thing as "irreconcilable differences" or "no-fault divorce" - blame must be assigned to one party or the other.

Still, as for all "lifestyle" articles, I am very skeptical that whatever phenomenon they are describing is really as prevalent as they want to make it appear.

Such a lack of imagination and ambition! Hiring a hooker to get a better divorce settlement? Why not hire an assassin and avoid divorce altogether? It pays off better, and you get sympathy and people bring you food, for some reason.

I worry about the poor schmuck who finds out too late that he has married a frigid, gold-digging shrew; when out of nowhere comes this lovely beacon of light and hope, promising a brief yet tawdry surcease from his oppressive existence, only to find out that he has once again exchanged a moment's comfort for a lifetime of economic slavery.

The rest of the abusive, neglectful putzes that think cheating on their wives is their right and priviledge deserve whatever penalty the divorce judges hand down.

Describing your own experiences? :D

I did not marry a gold-digging shrew (and could not have, as I had no money at the time), -- what I married was a psycho. By the time we divorced we both despised each other, but there was no jealosy on either side -- how can you be jealous of someone you do not want? Toward the end we were both sleeping with other people and making no secret of it -- I was on reasonably civil terms with her boyfriend, and vice versa. If anything, it was a relief -- "Not my problem any more!" Divorce was actually quite amicable, and "cheating"[1] was never brought up.

[1] In quotations because how can anything be cheating if it is out in the open?

It's really nothing new. Hiring prostitutes for purposes of blackmail has been going on for a long time..it's called the "Badger Game".This is just a variation on it.
