Survival

Religious suggestions/practices can also be meant for improving health--physical & metal.

What they are meant for has no influence on whether they are actually effective or not.

Someone in stem cell therapy, told me good night sleep(sympathetic stimulation-repair & maintainance) is good for stem cell activities.

I and my family feel better on one/two day fasting though bit inconvinient on first day.
Anecdote. And "feeling better" is not curing illness.

As you are a practitioner of homeopathy I can see how you would think this.
Does it benefit in improving healing & sickness?
How many times do you need this answer?

That was my personal observation. I can't say these are evidance still;

No it's not evidence for your idea that animals 'heal themselves' by fasting. It is evidence for what other posters have already said, that animals who are ill stop eating and become less active.

I've owned many different pets, worked in wildlife sanctuaries and spent ten years in the hell that is the NHS.

In that time, whenever a person or animal stopped eating and we couldn't find a way to get nutrition in somehow, they generally went ahead and died.

Racking my brain, I can't think of more than one or two occasions when someone who had stopped taking food and fluids made any kind of recovery. It's happened, but it's rare. This is just anecdote of course.

Thanks. It had added to my knowledge..

As others have mentioned, nothing 'made' cancer, its a natural phenomenon, nor is there a 'choice'. Its true that certain lifestyles increase the chance that someone gets cancer, but the chance is about 1 in 3 over the course of a human life regardless of your lifestyle, increasing sharply as you get older.

Fasting would be an extremely bad idea, as when you fast your body starts using up its reserves and spreading those across the body. Since cancers tend to be efficient at taking up nutrients all you are doing is depriving the rest of your body of essential nutrients.

Was cancer there in our older days and in simlar extent?

But when we are overloaded with nutrients esp. stored ones? Will some fasting not benefit?

However, it looks quite valid that we may break tolerances/resistences to accumulated stored nutrients due to created defficiency by fasting which distribute in body evenly. Thanks, it is dynamic understanding & can be relevant to hormesis(sometime back there was similar exchange of view with one most senier in hormesis).

Yes.

No. garbage.

No.

No. Garbage. You have not even a basic understanding of medicine or physiology. Go read get an actual education.

The chance was the same, but there were less people and they died younger, so the amount of deaths trough cancer were less. Also diagnosis was less clear, so it was generally put down to God's will/old age

No, I've seen cancer patients and trust me, fasting is the last thing you want them doing. If it didn't kill you hollywood would be using it as a diet method.

I have no clue what you are trying to say here

Thanks. I meant on last para, that as you said, better distribution of nutrients should be possible on some fasting.

Btw, I was just trying to understand, how cell adhesions is related to cancer?

Tumor suppressor genes are then inactivated in cancer cells, resulting in the loss of normal functions in those cells, such as accurate DNA replication, control over the cell cycle, orientation and adhesion within tissues, and interaction with protective cells of the immune system.
