Jewish dance group stoned in Hanover, Germany

Ah yes, these nasty rocks. Right up there with knives and guns. Of course.

Been over to the Bloody Sundy thread yet to defend that position?

Here I am, asking the question a third time that your refuse to answer.

I ask you again: a gang of people surround you throwing stones at you, is that no cause for worry?

Remember all those times you got told off for thowing stones as a child? Bet no-one ever told you they could "easily" kill you.

I really am going to owe Cavemonster an apology when she clicks, though

Quixotic,
Even though you refused three times to answer a simple question I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt.

I think you're thinking of the other rock throwing thread and continuing the argument here that deadly force against a rock thrower is innapropriate. I don't want to debate that, that isn't what this thread is about.

You realize, I'm sure that rocks come in a variety of sizes and children throwing casually wield significantly less force than adults throwing maliciously.

Did you really throw sizable rocks at people's heads as a child? Where the hell were you raised?

You are completely correct. The arguments I used were extremely silly. I don't know what got into me.

The last winter I spent in Syracuse, while my Dad was finishing up his degree, the untamed and generally unsupervised (this was 1959) gang of grad brats (nearly all under six years old) that lived in the married grad student neighborhood built two really big snow forts, complete with pockets built into the walls to stash supplies of snowballs.

One evening we filled those pockets up with fresh snowballs and then went home. The next day we started using them in a snowball battle.

It wasn't pretty. After all the bleeding stopped we had to make new rules about prepared ammo.

Jews are the only ethic/religious group in Europe that cannot walk around recognisable in main population centres without getting harassed.
Synagogues have no signs on them, when tension rises they get police protection.

It isn't 'expressing anger over the middle east situation'. It is a racist attack.

O.o

jews walked and still walk around in my neighborhood with their traditional clothes. Also the Synagogue has sympols on it and the signs make it also clear, it is a synagogue.

Moslems walking around in their traditional clothes gets alot more attention.

Can one or two thrown rocks, in theory, kill an adult? Yes. Is it a realistic threat? No. Is it a "deadly weapon"? Clearly not.

Stating something that is legally untrue repeatedly will not make your case. Legally throwing a stone at someone is assault with a deadly weapon. No matter how often you lie about it will not change that fact.

...[un-invisible]Am I going to be in the **** when someone figures out what I'm doing? Probably.[/un-invisible]

OK, I'll bite: What are you really doing? Because I was just about to use my considerable wit and articularity to call you a freaking idiot in a way that just barely avoided being modded -- something like "your argument is the kind of thing only a freaking idiot would say." But now I see it's some sort of in-joke I'm not getting, so I'd love to find out the real method behind your madness.

uh huh...right.

sure. the facts that the ISRAELI dancers were targeted, has nothing to do with it.

Just because someone is Jewish does not automatically mean that they are from Israel, anymore than being Muslim makes one a terrorist. In the 1930s the progressives marched alongside Jews against the blackshirts. Now we live in more 'enlightened' times, the progressives march alongside the blackshirts against the Jews. Why, because we live in a world where the comment 'I'm surprised Yugoslavia held together as long as it did after the death of Tito' can be greeted with 'Who's Tito?'...

Great then we can just categorize any harm done by Palestinians by Israelis as legitimate anger expressed in illegitimate ways.
"Both sides have legitimate anger" sounds like a very good road towards peace.

Bravo. I've lost count of all the times Thunder has said "Jew does not equal Israeli" and vice versa. Very good pick up.

THIS should go well with that brush of yours.

You're right I obviously overstated my case.

My bro in law is a social worker in Berlin who spends a lot of time talking Neo-Nazi types out of using violence against anyone who doesn't look German enough.

In Russia, you're probably most in danger as a black person or a Chechen.
(Look up Russian skinheads on youtube, to see this happen before your very eyes).

But in the Netherlands the situation of the Jews has taken a nosedive.
Jews arriving at Schiphol airport are informed about the situation, I hear.
There are now three major parts of Amsterdam where Jews will be harassed if recognised. Usually not a violent way, I admit.
It's usually limited to shouts of 'Jew!' whilst giving the Hitler salute, spitting on the person or a cheerful 'Hey look guys, Hitler missed one'.

The situation for gays is roughly the same, BTW. (though they get beaten up on a regular basis)

I was going to mention that, but i couldn't get the link in the OP to load yesterday. Today it works, and nowhere does it emntion that the Jewish dancers were from Israel, or any other foreign country.

The Muslims who attacked them, however, were immigrants.

So we have Muslim Imigrants telling Jews who were born in the country to "get out".

And where will they go? The anti-semites like Helen Thomas tell the Jews to "go back to Germany", and Jews in Germany get told to "get out".

And we have apologists like Thunder who blame Israel for the attack.

And, of course, none of this has anything to do with anti-semitism.
