Suicide on the job.

Yeah I had a work mate hang himself in a tree outside the company entrance. They found him swinging in the breeze the next morning. I've always thought suicide for non medical reasons to be a pretty selfish act

Seriously, I've never liked a job enough for suicide to cross my mind in case of failure.

When they stopped selling Vanilla Coke here? That's another story.

It's hard to judge.
For many people their mental state is a medical condition.

Why can't suicidal people just cut off one leg, and then take a break.
If they aren't happy a few days later; then, an arm; etc?

All things in moderation.

The "higher education" field must be somewhat lower in stress than many... In my 30 years here we've had only two employees off themselves. One, a fired "facilities" guy, broke into his boss's office, sat in the big chair, and shot himself.
Another, an RA (resident adviser) hung herself. (longtime depression sufferer)

We've had somewhat more students during this time period; 5 as I recall.

Oh I completely understand. In this instance it was caused by mounting gambling debts, pressure from the affair he was having. He just decided he did not want to take responsibility for the choices he'd made

<nitpick> hanged herself</nitpick>

I know it's off topic and a minor point, but this is one example of grammar helping preserve human dignity. Sorry to be a disctraction from the topic at hand.

Really, dude.
That was so off-topic, it wrecked my righteous bummer.
Get a life.

Workplace suicide, not cool. Workplace = crazy exciting (especially if you're a teacher).

I really should use smiley icons, just in case folks don't know where I'm coming from.

But I hate smiley icons.

I love all of you, though.

do it like Foxconn in China did.
the workers had to sign a new contract that forbids suicide.
i dont know what the fines are if you break that contract...

Whoops. Someone was in a hurry, meant to write:

Workplace suicide, not cool. Workplace sex = crazy exciting (especially if you're a teacher).

My company has a rule that you get an official warning if you commit suicide on the job. Do it twice and you can get fired.
