What is your latest photo of, RWVBWL?
Gretting Mary H,
Thanks for asking. My most recent avatar is the 1st ever Great White Shark to have been photographed breaching here in the waters off Los Angeles. I am the photographer.
Though this short story below is a bit offthread, it does show how someone's curiousity might make a difference in finding a clue or an over looked clue.
Early last year, in Jan. of 2009, I became more curious about a fatal shark attack that had occured in 1989, which I vaguely remembered. A girl and her boyfriend went kayaking in the waters off Los Angeles and were never seen alive again. 2 days later, Tamara was found, by chance, out in the ocean, almost 30 miles up the coast, having been killed by a Great White Shark. Her boyfriend Roy was never found.
In my extensive research, I found something in my old video archives that most likely holds a huge clue to help answer the question of why Roy was never found. For on Jan. 29, 1989, my surfteam and I were on the beach as the sun came up the following morning adjacent to the same harbor that Tamara was returned to land as daylight was ending the previous day. As I shot a surfteam video, a pod of dolphins cruised by. Unbeknown to us, Roy was missing, and Tamara had just been found late the previous afternoon just offshore of our location.
One of the animals, which I had always thought were just dolphins, appears, in recent frame by frame analysis, to actually be a shark, dragging something as 2 seagulls circle it. The color of clothing that Roy was last seen wearing is the same as what is momentarily visable near this animals dorsal fin on top.
I, and many others, believe that Roy was near Tamara, and overnight his body might have been pushed closer towards the shore due to the surf. More research is continuing to see if this video holds clues to help answer why Roy was never found.
And it is because of my curiousity about what had happened to Roy and Tamara that I have been recently, and pretty successfully, photographing and videoing breaching sharks here in the waters of Los Angeles. More of that will be in the media soon, I bet...
Anyways, when I come to read here on JREF, Perugia Shock, Injustice in Perugia, TJ4MK, and PMF,
I try to decipher clues while looking at the whole picture, much as I did while researching this long ago 1989 fatal shark attack. Maybe, just maybe, there is something that has been overlooked or not found, yet...
Have a great Sunday,
RWVBWL
