All right, I guess this great big oil gush is ripe, but even so...this is a tad...

While some say environmental extremists, who have committed acts of terror in the past are responsible, the dominant theory that has emerged is that a North Korean sub torpedoed the rig. The Deepwater Horizon oil platform was owned by Transocean, the largest offshore drilling contractor in the world. It was also built and financed by South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., which leads many to think about a North Korean attack.

I am pretty sure that if a NK sub launched a torpedo in the gulf, the U.S. Navy would be all over them.

Finally...I can come forward with my Godzilla theory and not be ridiculed!

What exactly led to this CT? What was NK supposed to gain by this act? It would be an extremely high risk, low return move to make. If they did it and we found out, we would squash their guts out.

At least if they blamed one of those (and I quote Gallagher here) 'OPECers' we are currently having difficulties with (Iran, Venezuela) there would be some motive. We still would be a long way off from means or opportunity, but we are dealing with CT's here, motive is all you need to 'prove' a conspiracy.

Why not tag the demon worshipping mullahs of alq and tally ho ban. It's already their m.o. to speed boat in and blow up this time they dropped depth charges strapped to o2 bottles before they did. Morons at ELF could figure this one out too

North Korea only has crappy Russian and Chinese diesel-electric subs made in the 1950s. There is no possible way that they made it all the way to the Gulf of Mexico and fired on an oil rig without being detected.

Wouldn't it be much easier for North Korea to torpedo a rig off the California coast?

It would definitely be easier as California is about half the distance as the Gulf of Mexico. I still say there is no way in hell they could do it in rickety 1950s era Soviet diesel sub though.

Sure. Which is why the Evil International North Korean Communist Conspiracy would never do it.
