Amanda Knox guilty - all because of a cartwheel

That more glass wasn't broken out is evidence that whoever entered through that window could reach the latch. It wouldn't be that difficult of a task for someone taller than normal like a basketball player to reach in through that large hole with their right arm, bend at the elbow to reach back to the latch. The average short guy trying to stage a break-in would probably think as you do and remove more of the glass.

So you leap to the conclusion that just because Rudy played basketball, he was super tall? Rudy is only of average height and only a little taller then say, Raffaele.

Don O. mate,

I was hoping for Rudy's actual height. The link you provided gives the average height of professional basket ball players who play guard. Is Rudy a professional basket ball player?

Why would a burglar enter the cottage via Filomena's window?

View of the cottage at night. Note that most of the light is coming from the side away from Filomena's window.

Google street view showing the view of the balcony from the road.

Google street view of Filomena's window. Note that this is looking backwards from the Google van. The view for approaching traffic is from the other side of the road and blocked more by the tree.

Perhaps a pic that isn't in black and white might be better, don't you think? Not to mention one that actually shows the window...like these:

Kermit mentioned the street lamps. There is also the light from the headlights of passing traffic to factor in.

And the visibility of the window is not just an issue in regard to people on top of the car park, or the flats or buildings situated around or the road right next to it, but also to anyone returning to the cottage who walks up the drive. 8 people lived in that cottage. That's 8 different people who could return at any moment. individuals also have friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, family, meaning there were 8 sets of those who might call round the cottage at any moment, all of which would have clearly seen Rudy attempting to get in the window.

That's what we call 'exposed'.

How tall was that lawyer that could reach the latch?
Could the lawyer reach the latch? The picture I saw showed him touching the bottom of the shutter.

I was not aware that he had managed to touch the latch as well. Is there a picture of him doing so?

The main problem I have defending it is lack of the information he has regarding six serious crimes in 33 days. He refers to an article that does not list the details of these crimes, even if there are a couple of crimes that we are already aware of through other sources. I also don't like the headline of that Express article, grammatically confusing to me and indicative of sloppy editing. It is also confusing to me as to the source of the information, whether from Amanda's lawyers or independently verified. Perhaps more information will be coming soon on this or Dr. Waterbury will take up the issue and provide more details.

The shutters are closed and would have been sealed from the inside (this is a crime scene you know). The lawyer still has one more step up and can stretch his toes for additional height. In the photo, his head is already at the hight of the sill. He will have to stretch to reach the latch but someone slightly taller will have no problem. It may not even be necessary to reach the handle of the latching rod if the rod itself could be turned with the fingers.

There are no crimes apart from his murder of Meredith. This is one of the reasons the judge gave him a discount for mitigation in his appeal, because he has no previous criminal record. That's a fact.

Anything else is simply mud slinging. The only smear on his past is the incident in the kindergarten.

You need to understand the dynamics of the window. They are shown in this PowerPoint: Spiderman's Window

Will they? Have you been going around measuring Italian guards?

Rudy's height was published...some time ago. It was 5,10 - 5,11, i can't remember exactly which, but he's under 6 foot.

True, I didn't factor in that Italians are inferior.

I thought Rudy Guede was a black man, born in the Ivory Coast?

I think he was talking about the guards. If he was was talking about Italians in general then he lives in a dream world...as if there aren't people under 6 foot in America!

But really, I think he's just trying to offend (although he certainly believes in the inferiority of other nations and races...that shines through).

My feeling on a lot of these news stories is that they are kept in reserve and come out every few weeks to keep the media profile and the story ticking along. A while back Bruce hinted something about Rudy was about to be revealed that would be significant. Admittedly that was only a few days before the story was published. Before that the whole "Amanda was framed" photograph in Giobbi's office that had sat around for 14 months. It reminds me of how the publicity for celebrities is managed. This is of course not to say that the stories are false. Perhaps more information on Rudy's previous activities and what ever coverup may exist around them will be published. Right now one has to assume all the details in order to get to where Dr Waterbury takes the story.

I think the point Dr. Waterbury is trying to make is that there were crimes, these crimes were ignored (because he was a police informant), and that is why he got a mitigated sentence (no criminal record). I am willing to concede that he may have information on this that is not public at this point (which was my point). But I don't like being accused of simple mud-slinging. Oh well.

RoseMontague,

The problem is that we have a situation where each side believes the other are a bunch of liars that withhold important information. Having one side say "I have information that it's the other guys who are the liars, but I can't show it to you" is no good at all.

Well it's a nice conspiracy theory, but meaningless without any evidence to back it up. We could just as easily say Raffaele was a police informant if we don't have to evidence it.

The mud slinging reference was not directed at you, but at those certain other places where claims are made about Rudy having a criminal past.

Don't try and defend him, he had no idea how tall Italian basketball guards are.
