Sylvia Browne Protest - Dallas - Resources?

A friend of mine and I are going to go to the Sylvia Browne event in Dallas this June to distribute flyers informing the public about her horrible track record and generally disgusting grief-vampirism.

We've been gathering older information from the stopsylvia.com website, but we were going to ask if someone has already created some flyers with some punchy text/pictures to make the largest impact we can on people quickly.

Has anyone else protested a sylvia reading? Advice, suggestions?

Anything you do say here (or anywhere else on the web) will be read by Sylvia Browne and co. As a consequence
- If for some reason you cancel then do not publicly admit this fact.
- If the event is cancelled then you were probably responsible.
- Keep as much information as possible off line.

I've moved this thread to General Skepticism and Paranormal because I think it will get better attention here.

I live in Florida and cannot attend, but I will lend my design skills to your cause and create a printable PDF booklet for you. I can do some pro work, I'll put in whatever evidence I can find and a "How does she do it?" section explaining cold/hot reading and such.

Here is one avenue Mark Edward Sylvia Shakedown pt 1

Here is part two of Mark Edward Sylvia Shakedown

pay special attention to what he does with the yellow papers he puts in the bathroom.

And YES Sylvia's people scans the JREF for Sylvia's name. They already know that you are planning on hitting them in June and where. I suggest you go "off-line" and discuss this with a local skeptic group, for form one yourself.

Gather the evidence of what you do, video, pictures ect and post them everywhere as quickly as you can.

Who are these people. Can you name them?

No I can't name them. They are people who work for Sylvia. They scan the forum and google her name and such throughout the working day. I'm not a CT, this has been stated many times by "insiders" of the Sylvia camp.

If you are really that interested, you should PM ExMinister.

Wow Jayme, thank you for posting this here.

What I was hoping to do is to find as many cases as possible of documented cases of Sylvia Browne being fraudulent in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. There is the Opal Joe Jennings case from Tarrant County.

I am a little daunted by the shear volume of the articles on StopSylviaBrown.com, and there are no ways to search by keyword or anything.

If I can't find more cases in DFW, maybe Texas wide, what I am hoping is the people we give the flyers to feel it close to home.

I refuse to be intimidated by harassment from Sylvia Browne's people. We have a first amendment right to distribute information. I looked up Dallas County protest law, and as long as we have less than 75 people and we don't obstruct traffic we don't even need a permit.

It is not so hard to be cautious about making sure we cite our sources, and that we don't make any ad hominem attacks on our publication.

We can simply present cases in which she was wrong about her claims in very sensitive delicate situations. There seems to be an ample supply of such cases.

Thanks Robo Sapien. We may just need to take you up on that. I am still doing research for the info we want to use.

No problem. I've already gathered up some material, but PM me here with whatever you have.

If you attend the show from the inside, you should rig up some kind of big scorecard pit of cardboard to track her hits and misses where the audience can see.

Thats a great idea. But tickets start at >$100, which makes me very unlikely to go in.

Yes, lets not line her pockets any more. Definately find a good spot by the door though. I think a picket sign that says "SAVE YOUR MONEY - FREE PSYCHIC READINGS HERE" would be a good attention getter.

That may be the case. But the place she is giving the show is likely private property. I'm not sure if the right to protest trumps trespassing laws. I'm not even sure if permits allow this. But it least a permit would be good to call a trespassing bluff by the venue.

You would be correct. You can protest only on public property. You can't go into someone's house and do whatever you want. Otherwise every single person caught breaking and entering will say "I came to protest".

A slight reminder that Sylvia got RSL kicked out of the hotel the day where he saw her show. Story on his site.

Therein lies a problem. If she does something completely inside a venue, it's unlikely you'd be able to access Sylvia or anyone going to her show.

For instance, if she's doing the Gaylord Texan over in Grapevine, that place is massive. It's like a bio-dome on a palatial estate, which is likely private land. You'd only be able to protest outside the gate. Which is about 1/2 mile from the hotel itself.
