Somebody needs to assume the role of Godwin. I believe he showed up pretty early (first 400 posts or so) in the thread. And Poe.

And Waterman's post (with the additions by X) is brilliant. This is the kind of post that makes this thread well worth following (apart from any laughs you may accidentally, or otherwise, find here).

On a more serious(?) note, this post of yours has given me more pause for thought than any other that I've read today. This says something about both the state of the Forum at the moment, and about myself, but I'll just address my own shortcoming for now.

Those three dots weren't simply forgotten, or even disregarded as being unimportant - they were, for a time, completely invisible to me.

I read, and re-read the above post; I went back and read the post where you initially mentioned that you felt left out; I read back through the thread as far as the beginning of the discussion of the proposed movie, and finally, still having no idea what it was that you were talking about, I initiated a search for all posts in the thread made by Belz.

Finally, the penny dropped - there's no such user!

Now this might seem a really small thing, and nothing to get worked up about (to the others here, not to you, of course) but it really baffles me and I couldn't let the incident pass without some comment.

I've read all of your 130 posts in this thread. I pride myself (hopefully without overt arrogance) on my attention to detail, particularly when I'm trying to illustrate something. I'm a complete grammar, spelling and punctuation nazi. I'm particularly mindful of how impolite it is to alter a members screen name, either by omission or by intent.

And yet, all of the above notwithstanding, the ellipsis after your name remained completely hidden from my view until the Forum software pointed it out to me.

Anyway, as I've mentioned, this may be a fairly trivial detail in the big scheme of things, but I'm so puzzled by it that I felt compelled to comment. I'm sure this 'incident' says something about something, but I'll have to leave it for others to say because, apart from anything else I'm starting to ramble here and I have no real point to make, nor any conclusion to draw. It's simply a quirk that I found too fascinating to gloss over with a quick apology.

So . . .

I'm sorry, and you can pretty obviously rest assured that I won't do it again.

I have to second this, wholeheartedly. I hope that my own contributions here serve the purpose of keeping the thread ticking over while we wait for the genuinely important posts by Waterman, X, joobz, paximperium, carlitos, Hokulele, Elizabeth I, Simon - the whole cast, in fact (with one notable exception).

I'm truly grateful to these folks for the education I've received here in a subject that I started off knowing next to nothing about.

My first draft of the DVD cover did, in fact, feature the Gay Rodeo blimp peeking out from behind the clouds, but I wasn't too sure how many survivors of 'that' thread were involved in this one, and I'm loath to go back in there to check.

Since there are at least two of us though, the final version will definitely include a nod to the GR.

Yes. To all of the above. Especially to Waterman, who continues to be thoughtful and intelligent and entirely without sarcasm while the rest of us delve whole heartedly into humor. Mind you, I LOVE the humor, and consider it the only reasonable course of action at this point. But Waterman, please keep it coming--and X keep adding your X-additives. I'll continue to watch...

Oh, and: do we need to add characters who have been swayed by DOC's inanity? Played by Sir Not Appearing In This Film?

Superior suggestion, but wasn't perhaps one poster persuaded to throw-out theism thanks to DOC's coherently crippled crusade?

I'm sorry, but the poster escapes me at the moment. This person's role should certainly be included, and given some lines.

Don't fret too much, my friend, I got dinged on that a few years ago. I used to leave off his ellipises all the time. There was another poster (David Swidler) who's name kept getting typed as David Swindler by everyone, including me. I try to correct myself, once it's pointed out. It's always hardest to proofread your own work.

Besides, for a fiend, Belz... is a decent enough guy, even if he is a Quebecer. ;)

I see us more as a collaberative team. I couldn't come up with half the stuff I do without the input from you and all the others, even DOC - although he's more there for source material. ;)

But his testimony is not credible, according to Doc, and we know in what high esteem he generally held testimonies, so Carlitos must be very bad... or something...

I have no idea what you guys are talking about; I assume it is from a thread from before my time. I also assume I am probably safer not knowing and, as it probably also was a Doc thread, not wasting any more days of my life...

As for the Gay Rodeo/Squid Fishing Monthly, it's on-going in the Evidence for Aliens thread. Damn near as good as this one!
