Amanda Knox guilty - all because of a cartwheel

If the need arrises and my buddy has a freshly laundered pair in my size, why shouldn't I borrow a pair?

Maybe because they don't belong to you?

Try to answer that as a skeptic instead of a kid who still believes in cooties.

Cooties? How old are you? Do you understand respect for someone else's personal property? Do you understand that wearing someone else's bra is not the same wearing someone else's boxers?

And again, do you have even one shread of evidence that Meredith and Amanda shared each others bras?

The argument that no woman would ever borrow freshly laundered underwear from a flatmate presumes that all women think exactly alike.

No, the facts are:
1. Roomates sharing bras is not common.
2. There is zero evidence that Meredith and Amanda shared bras.
3. Amanda's DNA was not found on the bra.

Which means, if we accept this premise, we must also then take it to it's rational conclusion:

Rafaelle had more contact with the bra clasp than did the person the bra belonged to, that (presumably) wore it often.

That would, I think, shoot down the claims of contamination or lack of significant contact.

Exactly. How could Rafaelle's DNA be on the bra and not Amanda's? A more reasonable explaination would be that Rafaelle innocently touched the bra after it came out of the wash. Perhaps the last time he was at the cottage before the murder he saw the bra on the floor and picked it up.

But no, Amanda supporters go with the most unplausable theory with zero evidence to support it. Why?

If you believe this, then you cannot reasonably criticize Charlie Wilkes for writing, "It's an excerpt from the book, which I've already read. If she was listening to me she might have addressed some of the points that I believe are factual errors - the bleach receipt, the Albanian and Greek supposedly "bedded" by Amanda, and the obscenity supposedly shouted in the courtroom by Raffaele's stepmother." Yet in message 6062 you wrote, "None of them are even relevant." Your logic and your grammar both need work.

Let's be a little clearer then. Why do you care so much about Raffaele's stepmother's words, a bleach receipt that didn't exist, and Amanda's sexual history?

When we get to the information relevant to media manipulation, specifically the lies told by David Marriott's office and ABC News, there are crickets. Why is that?

You should add a (4): The police found the DNA of three other unknown persons on the bra-strap.

The word "borrow" normally implies permission.

You didn't answer the question. Please explain the scientific reason why you are grossed out by the thought of wearing a laundered bra that has been worn by someone else?

And again, do you have even one shread of evidence that Meredith and Amanda shared each others bras?

That's not actually my argument. I was simply pointing out that you were using an invalid argument.

Who said it was laundered? I think the strongest argument for the grossness of wearing someone else's underwear is that you don't know if it's been laundered or not. Amanda was known as a bit of a slob.

That is certainly a possibility. After all, Raffaele was at the cottage the afternoon before the murder while Meredith was doing laundry.

Then what reason is there to support the bra swapping story other than the fact that Raffaele's father said it?

I have my doubts. I don't know of any woman anywhere who would do such a thing. There's a master's thesis in there somewhere because it almost seems to be a peculiarity or certainly worthy of study!

If you knew for certain that a bra was freshly laundered, would you still be too grossed out to wear it?

If you would still be grossed out, do you recognize that your response is based on emotion instead of science and reason?

If I asked Yahoo! Answers if it's okay to have sex with rats would Dan take that as evidence that sex with rats is widespread?

Why can't those who support the innocence of AK and RS do that without trying to defend all the the obvious lies both have told?

Not to mention the anonymous nature of Yahoo! accounts makes it impossible to verify the gender of any of those on that page. I hate to sound cynical but the poser of the question sounds like a man and selected the male's answer as "best answer". Very very unusual. Highly suspect.

------------

ETA: I haven't laughed out loud so much on this thread as the last three pages. Any word yet on who "engaged" Dr Johnson?

WTF? Of course it wouldn't be based on science or reason. What on earth are you talking about

And how would I know for certain if it was freshly laundered? Is it also common for roomates to go around sniffing each others underwear to see if it's clean?

It doesn't matter if it's based on emotion rather than science, it's a fact that it's not a common practice and you have zero evidence that either Meredith or Amanda were ok with it.

And let's not forget the sexy ones. Note that it's only men that think that women share bras. Even Amanda Knox herself hasn't admitted to doing it (nor any of her college roommates).

I'm a guy and I've personally never heard anything as patently absurd as this bra-swapping nonsense. I wonder if Dan O and Dr Sollecito are sharing the same bong. Or swapping their bongs.

I'm not going to let you wear my jockeys, Kestrel. Or, if you do want them, you can keep them. I think they sell them for about $5 for 3 pairs at Wal-Mart on sale. Here's five bucks.

You'll get no bra swapping argument from me, but I'm curious who you think the DNA of the other 3 people belong to.
