ERICKSON: This is crazy. What gives the Commerce Department the right to ask me how often I flush my toilet? Or about going to work? I'm not filling out this form. I dare them to try and come throw me in jail. I dare them to. Pull out my wife's shotgun and see how that little ACS twerp likes being scared at the door. They're not going on my property. They can't do that. They don't have the legal right, and yet they're trying.
"Liberal media."

I'm glad I never tried to sell Girl Scout cookies at his house.

Where does he even dream up that those are the kinds of questions asked on the form?

Maybe he's angling for a job at Fox.

BTW, Peephole, where is this quote from? I usually peruse CNN's website, and I haven't seen this. A link would be nice.

If you get the long form they ask all kinds of odd questions like, "how much do you spend on electricity per month?" but I don't recall any questions about toilet flushing.

Ah, I see--that's why Peephole used the scare quotes. I see that CNN refers to him as a "contributor", and none of this was actually on CNN at all.

Right. Peephole's OP fails on alll counts.

1) Erick Erickson is not a journalist, nor pretends to be one.

2) Erick Erickson's comment was made on his radio show, not CNN

3) Erick Erickson didn't say anything about "shooting" anyone.

4) Therefore, Erick Erickson's comment has zero to do with how and why the lame stream media is irrefutably liberal.

I'm sorry for thinking CNN is trying to be a news channel and their people are journalists.

Where did I say it was aired on CNN? And why is it relevant?

Do you think Erickson suddenly turns into a sane person when he gets on CNN?

3) Erick Erickson didn't say anything about "shooting" anyone.
Are you illiterate? He's literally saying he's going to threaten people with shooting them:

"Pull out my wife's shotgun and see how that little ACS twerp likes being scared at the door."

Oh Peephole, you silly liberal! Erickson merely suggested he would threaten census workers with a shotgun, not actually shoot them. Heck, we don't even know if the shotgun will be loaded!

Therefore, Erickson is not at all a rightwing nutjob, and Cicero's comments are not at all reactionary and completely divorced from reality.

I wonder what he'd do if he saw a census worker on an airplane? Erickson, hmmm could be Danish...

You're sorry? Think how CNN feels. Even CNN's identified news anchors, reporters and journalists, i.e. Wolf Blitzer, Christiane Amanpour, Anderson Cooper, etc routinely undermine CNN's credibility as a news organization.

Where did I say it was aired on CNN? And why is it relevant?

It is relevant because Erickson said it on WMAC's In the Morning with Erick Erickson. What deso CNN have to do with it?

Do you think Erickson suddenly turns into a sane person when he gets on CNN?

Does Larry King?

You obviously have no clue what literally means. Where did he say "shooting?" I understand you know zip about firearms and you have never owned one much less fired one. How does Erickson pulling out his wife's shotgun (he didn't say loaded shotgun or that he pointed it at the geek) when he answers the door turn into "a threat of shooting?" Erickson only says that the twerp would be "scared." So if you understood what "literally" meant, you would have said in the OP "intends to scare" the twerp.

Instead of you and your fellow libs making up what was not said, why not stick to what was said? He didn't say "threaten," and he didn't say "shoot." he did say the twerp would be "scared" at the sight of his wife's shotgun. Perhaps you will explain how you shoot someone with an unloaded shotgun?

You make reactionary sound as if it is a pejorative. Do you support socialism and communism?

I totally agree. It's perfectly normal to react to a person who knocks on your door by grabbing a shotgun and pointing it at them.

Any suggestion that this is unhinged, antisocial, bat-**** insane freak behavior is liberal propaganda.

Are you genuinely trying to say that someone talking about pulling a shotgun and scaring someone with it isn't making a blatant reference to threatening them with it?

Of course you are, I almost forgot what you were like. Carry on.

He never said "point" the shotgun at the twerp. Since this never actually occurred, what the Hell are you blathering about?

What need is there to reinterpret what Erickson said? The twerp would be scared at the mere sight of his wife's shotgun. That is literally what he said.

The intent of answering the door wielding a shotgun is to intimidate someone into thinking you might shoot them.

I figure there will be some wingnut VS census worker altercation in the coming months.

Hey buddy, I'm agreeing with you! I think it's totally normal to point shotguns at people who knock at your door. It's even MORE normal to just hold the shotgun to scare them. That's perfectly normal, and any suggestion otherwise is liberal blathering.

But why stop at shotguns? I think Erick, son of Erick should answer the door nude, covered in feces, holding a cow heart. That way, the poor census worker twerp will be even MORE scared. Wouldn't that be a hoot!?

Man, do I love Teabaggerville America! Anything goes!
