Amanda Knox guilty - all because of a cartwheel

I already explained this to you Kestrel. For them it wasn't how you describe because when they leaked the story, the positive HIV test had already been followed up with a test that showed she was HIV negative and the family were also emphasising this. And that's the point...Amanda was negative but had been told she was positive and that was the purpose of the story they were selling...that the Italians had deliberately lied to her by telling her she had AIDS when she didn't. It was for propaganda purposes to make the Italians look bad.

Is there something about this that's difficult for you to grasp?

Apparently anything that doesn't show the Italian justice system in a bad light is difficult for Kestrel to grasp...

Are you still talking about Barbie's claims that Amanda slept with seven men in Italy here?

No, we are discussing something she wrote in the Daily Beast:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-02-18/sex-and-murder-in-italy

In this article she quotes Amanda's diary as follows: "That night I smoked a lot of marijuana and I fell asleep at my boyfriend’s house. I don’t remember anything. But I think it’s possible that Raffaele went to Meredith’s house, raped her and then killed."

However, that statement is nowhere to be found in Amanda's diary. Anne Bremner contacted Nadeau about this, and Nadeau's response was that she was quoting from a second diary that was also written by Amanda. But she didn't provide a manuscript or facsimile, and nobody else seems to know about this phantom diary.

In her book, Nadeau writes, "when Raffaele was arrested, police searched his apartment and found a receipt for Ace brand bleach, purchased the morning of November 4, 2007, at 8:15."

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such receipt. But police video taken during the search of Raffaele's apartment does show two bottles of Ace brand bleach under the sink. Testimony at the trial revealed that Raffaele purchased them at the request of his cleaning lady before she went on maternity leave in September, 2007.

We all know that Amanda slept with Raffaele and with a cousin of the boys downstairs, but Nadeau claims she also bedded an Albanian and a Greek. I was not aware of this and have not seen this claim from any other source.

Nadeau also says Raffaele's stepmother yelled "f*** you!" when the verdict was announced. I have been told by people who were present that this is nonsense.

Fulcanelli says Nadeau cares only about truth, but her writing suggests that she likes to embroider the truth with imaginary facts.

Oh, so what's the game...we go back to articles weeks, months, years ago where they got something 'wrong' and post the list up of what they got wrong here? Is that the game, or did I get it wrong? I'm sure we could pack a very good list of media BS, especially that from US media if that's what we're playing? I mean, I can think of at least 8 to 10 great big whoppas from a certain Steve Shay alone. But then, it's you guys writing the rules with this game isn't it? So much good it's done you so far. So what are the rules...'slate the reporter as long as it's Barbie Nadeau'? Is that the game? If you have an enemy...smear them, is that how it works Charlie?

A nice game for you, I'm sure. But no journalist found Amanda and Raffaele guilty in a unanimous verdict and sentenced them to 25 and 26 years respectively after an 11 month trial. However, we can yak about the irrelevant journalists if you prefer, to help you bury the pain...even though that won't help the 'Angels' a jot in their appeal. Whatever floats your boat.

If we're going back over old news stories, I just found (or rather re-found) the following:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-499082/Meredith-sex-killing-Foxy-Knoxy-changes-story--again.html

It's got Nick Pisa quoting from Amanda's diary on 2nd December '07.

Her latest story was written in a 50-page diary she has kept since being jailed with Sollecito, 24, on suspicion of murdering the 20-year-old exchange student after a violent sex game.
She wrote: "That night I smoked a lot of marijuana and I fell asleep at my boyfriend's house.
"I don't remember anything. But I think it's possible that Raffaele went to Meredith's house, raped her, then killed her, and then when he got home, while I was sleeping, he put my fingerprints on the knife.
"But I don't understand why Raffaele would do that."

There is an even earlier mention of the diary dated 11th November '07 again from Nick Pisa here:
Meanwhile, it was revealed Miss Knox may be keeping a prison diary. Saulo Scarabattoli, a prison chaplain, said he thought Knox was writing a diary in her cell.
He said: "In the few moments I spent with her, it seemed she had a lot in her heart to think about, and I think she may be writing it down," he said.

If the family are responsible for the initial leaks of the diary they got organized quick. 32 days after the murder.

Charlie, if FOA and the pro-Amanda crowd were only concerned about truth, they wouldn't have an orchestrated attack programmed against Barbie Nadeau.

I'm not necessarily supportive of everything Nadeau says (earlier comments made here show I don't agree with all of her statements).

However, it strikes me as strange (oh, well maybe it's not all that strange after all), that on this site and others there is such an effort to discredit Nadeau. She is painted by FOA as having invented that particular translation of a translation which - as per your link - appeared in The Daily Beast on 18 February 2009.

However, you don't attack Nick Pisa, who was one of the first purveyors of those words almost exactly a year earlier, on 27 February 2008. Why didn't Anne Bremner contact Nick Pisa?

I did a Google search for the exact expression: "I think it’s possible that Raffaele went to Meredith’s house, raped her and then killed"

One of the first replies is this FOA page which decries Barbie Nadeau only:

Another reply is Nick Pisa's translation of the translation in earlier 2008, with further passages which go beyond Nadeau's borrowed sentence:

Wouldn't it have been more appropriate for FOA on its site, and through its blog posters to decry the earlier and more extensive Diary "translation" published by Pisa, of which Nadeau seems to have quoted only a sentence?

In fact what really seems bizarre in comparing the pro-Amanda crowd's treatment of Nadeau and Pisa, Nadeau gets the shaft. However, someone like pro-Amanda food-blogger-turned-case-writer Candace Dempsey only has kind words for Nick:

Ms. Dempsey has taken the pleasure of quoting bad-translator Nick and reproducing his photo working together with Perugia Shock blogger Frank Sfarzo:

Even one of the more radical pro-Amanda posters, the famous Turtle Dove, has praised and linked Nick Pisa:

... and yet FOA prefers to slam Barbie Nadeau for using words which Nick Pisa published in a much more extensive version a year earlier.

Curious.

Maybe FOA fears Nadeau.

I have a feeling that Nadeau is helping (unfortunately, from the Knox-Mellas point of view) reduce the return-on-investment on the multi-digit expenditure on the David Marriott PR campaign. After all the effort and cost to get on Larry King, Oprah, and the stalwart CBS 48 Hours with Paul Ciolinos calling on witnesses in the dark of night, well, Barbie Nadeau is neutralising a good part of the goodwill generated in those media hits.

Well maybe they should attack Nick Pisa then....

Edit: "Maybe FOA fears Nadeau". Well, if she's just making stuff up or not checking her facts or confirming anything (7 pieces of flesh, bleach receipts that don't exist, a blonde hair that doesn't exist), maybe that is something to fear. Hey, maybe Barbie's right about all of this, but if she's wrong about something, she's wrong.

I'm confused - where did Nick Pisa and Barbie Nadeau get this alleged diary from? Was there ever such a diary at all?

We know.

I thought I'd cleared up where Ms Nadeau got her copy. From Amanda's lawyers.

As for Nick Pisa...write and ask him. You never know, he might even tell you.

You need to sort those 'ifs' out first.

Amanda's "Prison Diary" does exist. It was mentioned as early as Dec. 9, 2007 in La Republica.

Barbie Nadeau is easy to figure out. She is selling books to a target audience that demands lurid and sensational. Getting the facts right wasn't even a minor concern in writing her book.

I don't express the same contempt for Barbie Nadeau as others do, I just find from what I've read online by others, that her theory of the crime is the most crazy one I've read yet.

In lamens terms, they got drunk and high and didn't even remember the whole incident, came back and noticed Meredith was dead? This is the basic premise correct? Kind of defies basic reasoning, even if it is Nadeau musing about possibilities. I don't know any reasonable person who would contemplate that absurdity.

I find it VERY hard to believe that the finding of this blonde hair in the murder room wouldn't be brought in as evidence and printed in all the papers were it true, especially considering just how much more evidence gets in Italy (not a value judgment).

Is there anyone else here that believes the 7 pieces of human flesh?

If it's an error, we can note it and move on.

Don't think you should lump FOA in with anyone who is pro-Amanda. This site, for example, is clearly pro-Amanda and clearly has issues with both Nadeau and Pisa:

freeamanda(dot)livejournal(dot)com/4077(dot)html

After the scandal with the fake sex photos falsely attributed to "GENTE", first published by Nick Pisa in DAILY MAIL, then retaken by Barbie Nadeau in NEWSWEEK and DAILY BEAST, and exploited by all the Amanda Lyncher blogs since mid July, we see that the Prosecution is fighting with ANY dirty tricks this PR war during these 2 dead Summer months 2009...
Indeed, GENTE did n o t publish these photos in its current July 19 edition, but more convenient ones...

Photo falsely attributed to GENTE Real GENTE photo
in front of the House of Horrors
(not to mention the slanderous comments by Nick Pisa and Barbie Nadeau in the DAILY MAIL and NEWSWEEK, where the Knox girls were represented as sluts - slander repeated in the Amanda Lyncher blogs)

By the way, both Nick & Barbie have a long tradition in distorting facts...

Sure, but you'd be no help with that unfortunately.

Good to see you've made a call. Dan O, Kestrel, Wilkes, Wilkens and Waterbury are standing by to offer their indoctrina...I mean help, should you asses that they embody integrity on the matter. Or maybe integrity doesn't matter to you much...that's up to you. But I think, you already chose your path some time ago.
