It's a Civil War: What We Do Now

So, basically the same thing that happens every election season.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

...The first gauntlet will be Operation Ear & Eyesore. Otherwise known as "Elect Me" on every billboard, television set, computer screen, telemarketers yap list...:boxedin:

From that same article.

"“Let’s put these changes into perspective,” Ms. Douglass said. “While accounting rules required companies to book this cost upfront, there are a whole set of benefits that will accrue to companies over time that they’re not booking upfront.”

Federal officials estimate that the provision will raise $4.5 billion to $5 billion in revenue over 10 years, but Mr. Klein maintained that it would cost the government more than it raised. "

So some companies are against some changes. That makes it a civil war and 'massive opposition' how?

And since the coverage of this really irked me, I want to elaborate on exactly what this, lest people be misled.

When George Bush implemented Medicare Part D, he gave money to corporations to use to pay their obligations to their retired workers.(Note that this is, therefore, a socialist program.) Furthermore, the rules stipulated that the money received from the government did not count as corporate income, but the money paid out did count as corporate expense. Therefore, the government paid money to corporations, didn't collect taxes on it, and gave an additional tax break when they spent the government money.

Under the new rules, the money received now counts as income. Of course, the money paid still counts as expense, so it's a wash and no taxes are paid. The corporations still get the money. The corporations still pay no tax. However, they don't get an additional tax break when they spend the taxpayers' money to fulfill their obligations to their retired workers.

The only thing I think I've learned from this thread is that you can be so far right that everything, no matter what it is, is left.

Linda Douglass, the communications director for the White House Health Reform Office ...

Wildy, I'm make the same challenge to you that I have to all the others (which by the way, they've ALL ignored).

Name the sources you use and let's see how *centrist* they really are. :D

I'll bite. I use Yahoo, FoxNews, CNN, NPR, Talk Radio (local station & Hannity), Mediamatters, Factcheck

Of those, I would label them as follows:
Yahoo, Factcheck and CNN fairly centrist
NPR slightly left leaning
FoxNews and Talk Radio far right leaning
Mediamatters far left leaning

ETA: Oh, I should add that I provided my sources for news. If you were asking form something else I apologize and you can ignore.

So you admit that she is right? After all you obviously cannot find anything inaccurate in what she said.

I look to all kinds of news sources, and given the fact that I tend to get my news from AP, Reuters and CBS Newswire...I tend to get them from various sources by default. I don't take anything from conspiracy sites (Worldnetdaily, Prison Planet, etc). I do read stories from Fox News, but I don't watch the channel; of course I rarely watch the news opting instead read.

Of course I am sure every thing is a leftist source, and given that I am left handed I am obviously part of the leftist conspiracy...I think.

Moved a couple of posts to AAH. Let's calm down folks. It is one thing to disagree with another's opinion. It is quite another to suggest that they would fight against the government in an armed militia. So show a bit more civility. Everybody.
Replying to this modbox in thread will be off topic  Posted By: Tricky

Remember the lesson of Alex Libman.....

They are tagged that way because they can't get it through their little pin heads that nobody makes them (or wants to make them) go to movies they don't want to, marry out of their sex, color or religion, watch tv they don't want to, go to computer sites they don't want to. But they, in their god-based, prejudiced little minds want to tell the majority of us how to live - and punish those who do not choose their way. I really don't give a monkey's butt how they think or act or what they want. I'll happily leave them alone to play with the animals in their stalls or whatever gets them happy, but I have no interest in telling them how to live and even less in them trying to tell me how to. That's why the flyover thing - they bring it on themselves.
And I am not too concerned about how angry they get. I'm a well armed liberal. And have a number of friends likewise - we just don't go play soldier in the woods. And, oddly, the woods aren't what they would have to go into.

By the by, I suspect even in those parts well under half the population is on that side on any real basis. I know a number of people in that part of the world and if any of them feel like the ones in the article they hide it quite well.:)
