Why there is such a rush to condemn people who are interested in finding out truth is a bit disheartening.

There is no rush, and the condemnation is because they show no sign of interest in finding out the truth, but rather in distorting and misrepresenting the evidence to support an untrue theory. You don't find the truth by starting with the story you want to end up with, then rejecting or lying about all the evidence that doesn't agree with it, yet that's what conspiracy theorists invariably do.

Evidence? I've yet to see a single claim about the NIST reports by a truther that turned up to be true. They are invariably quote mines or misunderstandings because they lack a basic engineering education.
