Ed Tea Party protest descends into madness, racism....

The TP movement, with no leadership structure, and no actual policy platform ("Fiscal Responsibility" is a bumper sticker, not a policy), is perfectly designed to exploit the No true Scotsman falacy.

A simple fiscal conservative and a virulent racist can stand arm and arm in a crowd and denouce the President. When someone points out to the fiscal conservative that he is standing with a racist, he can say he had no idea and move to another part of the crowd, stand next to someone else and denouce the President. When it is pointed out that this person is a black helicopter nutcase, the fiscal conservative can say that he had no idea and move to another area of the crowd, find someone else, and denouce the President again. When the next person says he wants to assassinate the President because he is a British spy working for alQueda, no idea, another part of the crowd...

I knew it! Lyndon LaRouche is in those crowds somewhere!

You mean Spanish I assume? Negro is spanish for black. Noir is French for black. Nigra was a deragatory pronouncement of the word (negro) and the "N" word was born from that mispronounciation.

Whoops:mgduh

So no democrats or no liberals are willing to accept responsibility for the 9/11 truthers, I take it?

You keep pushing this, and yet one of the loudest spokesmen for the "truther movement"; Alex Jones is a Christian/Libertarian ... What about his other younger subordinates that made the loose change series? Most truthers are also subscribers of the NWO conspiracy theory, which is largely supported by those in the libertarian crowd.. To try and lump truthers in with democrats just because they hated Bush is incredibly short sighted.

some of those Idiots deserve to get a president that is really like Hitler.
the Hitler Obama stuff is extremly disgusting.

never claimed it didnt happen during bush, i think it even happened more.

does that make it less disgusting?

No, actually. It was disgusting during Bush, but it got overused and lost it's bite.

Now it's just tired and unimaginative.

What's this about Republican craziness? These people are obviously calm, relaxed and completely rational:
More prosaically, it's also unaffordable. That's why one of the first things that middle-rank powers abandon once they go down this road is a global military capability. If you take the view that the U.S. is an imperialist aggressor, congratulations: You can cease worrying. But, if you think that America has been the ultimate guarantor of the post-war global order, it's less cheery. Five years from now, just as in Canada and Europe two generations ago, we'll be getting used to announcements of defense cuts to prop up the unsustainable costs of big government at home. And, as the superpower retrenches, America's enemies will be quick to scent opportunity.

Longer wait times, fewer doctors, more bureaucracy, massive IRS expansion, explosive debt, the end of the Pax Americana, and global Armageddon.

More:
I see plainly that Western civilization, over my lifetime, has been a slow-sinking ship. The few who have known what is happening have worked desperately to seal the watertight doors, repair the fissures, pump out the flooded zones. It's been a losing fight, though. The tilt of the decks is harder and harder to ignore. Last night, a major bulkhead gave way. Soon a funnel will topple over with a great crash and a shower of sparks. Yet still the band is playing, the people are dancing, the food coming up from the galley.

...

It'll be over soon. We'll be down in the cold, lightless depths of imperial despotism — in which, after all, the great majority of human beings, throughout history, have always lived. It's the natural way: liberty is an unstable temporary aberration. I once tried to compute the sheer quantity, in man-years, of lives lived under the despotic order — Egyptians and Assyrians, Persians and Chinese, Romans and post-Alexander Greeks, Incas and Aztecs, Umayyads and Abbasids, Ottomans and Zulus, Tsars and General Secretaries . . . as against humans in liberty, ruled by common consent. It came out at around a hundred to one.

He's right though.

More prosaically, it's also unaffordable.

Correct. America is already out of money. They're borrowing 200 billion a month. That won't go on forever.

That's why one of the first things that middle-rank powers abandon once they go down this road is a global military capability.

Also correct. The program will fall short, and guess which departments budget will be canabilized to pay for it?

But let's be honest here Peephole, you and most of the others who post here don't want America to be a military power. This isn't an alarmist statement so much as a hoped for side-effect.

If you take the view that the U.S. is an imperialist aggressor, congratulations: You can cease worrying.

Again, the defense budget will be the first to suffer, along with it Americas power projection.

But, if you think that America has been the ultimate guarantor of the post-war global order, it's less cheery.

America will no longer be "the leader of the Free World". Whoever steps into the power vacuum America leaves behind won't be a democracy.

Five years from now, just as in Canada and Europe two generations ago, we'll be getting used to announcements of defense cuts to prop up the unsustainable costs of big government at home.

Again, most of you want this.

And, as the superpower retrenches, America's enemies will be quick to scent opportunity.

Iran and Russia have been doing this for years already.

Longer wait times, fewer doctors, more bureaucracy, massive IRS expansion, explosive debt

Check, check, check, check and check.

the end of the Pax Americana,

I'm sure you think a world where putins russia or china rules the roost won't be so bad.

and global Armageddon.

This was a tad melodramatic, but not impossible.

so what you are saying is that the TP movement is big tent politics? ;)

The TP movement doesn't even have a tent. All you need to join the TP movement is to be opposed to President Obama and the Democratic Party. Your reasons can be stupid, misinformed, contradictory, or just plain bonkers.

Guys? A small request? Can you please refrain from using "TP" and "movement" in the same sentence?

Teabagger logic == two wrongs make a right???

Yes. We just heard in this topic from Gangularis that it was just fine to call Bush Hitler but Obama is an innocent little girl being tortured by KKK members and it is disgusting to attack him.
