Because Germany was rapidly retreating and being beaten back during that period, people in the concentration camps were being moved around. The fact that a group of people who had yet to enter the most severe stages of famine were located with those that had, does not mean the starving people didn't exist.

these were civilians, some of them children. even if they all did die of typhus, they were still murdered by the nazis because they were innocent civilians placed into horrific living conditions for no reason. they were not enemy combatants captured and put into prison camps. they were just kidnapped non combatants. the nazis still caused their deaths. They were shoved into cramped conditions without access to proper nutrition or sanitation and also without having proper clothing, bedding, and shelter to protect them from the elements. when bergen belsen was liberated, allied forces found a spicket of water to serve as the only water source for thousands of people in the area where anne and margo frank died. they described a 'mountain of corpses' around said spicket from people trying to reach it.

they were murdered the same way the native americans who died on the trail of tears were murdered. they were knowingly placed into dangerous living conditions against their will that caused their deaths.

and as for the fact that not all were not skeletel proves they weren't starving...the fact that not everyone was skeletel proves nothing. Some simply may have been recent arrivals to the camps. others given preferetial treatment due to having special skills, which occurred in almost all camps. and there will always be people who survive by stealing food from others in such life and death situations.

okay, you didn't respond saggy, so i'll post again; let's just say, for the sake of argument, that all those people died of typhus. they were still murdered by the nazis just like the native americans on the trail of tears (or in many other situations) were murdered; because they were innocent civilians forced into horrible living conditions for no reasons. is your argument that so long as you don't physically kill someone (ie gas them,l shoot them, etc), you're not doing anything wrong? that if you kidnap a child, put them in a a filthy diseased room with hundreds of other people, and they die, then you are completely innocent, and have done nothing wrong? also, why are you obsessed with the pictures of smiling children? my foster sister was horrifically abused by her biological mother on an almost daily basis. she was beaten, starved, burned, thrown down stairs, made to sleep on the basement floor with no bedding, etc. she was finally taken out of her custody and came to live with us when her mother actually tried to kill her. Yet I could show you album after album of smiling family pictures, of pictures of her smiling and looking like any normal carefree kid. Just because a kid knows to smile for a camera, or just because a kid is able to experience moments of joy and happiness, that doesn't somehow prove they're not living in unspeakably abusive conditions.

The event had an extremely traumatic effect on him, such as nightmares which caused him to yell out in his sleep. This alone proves to me that the Holocaust was real.

In addition, my husband took care of a very elderly lady in a local nursing home. She had numbers on her arm, and was a prisoner at Auschwitz. She was fine, lucid and easy to take care of except if the fire alarm would go off during a drill. Then she would go ballistic. She said that it was the same sound that was made when the gas chambers had done their job and the bodies were ready for disposal.

However, a few years ago I remember reading that the 6 million figure has been revised downward quite a number of times. It has always been put forward as a true statistic, but how was this figure arrived at? The article (it was on the web years ago and I can't seem to find it now) stated that it was revised down to 500,000. If I come across it again, I'll post the source.

So in other words, this event happened, but the numbers are what is in question. And my father's experience was very real and very traumatic and I have no reason to doubt him. He talked of many nail biting missions he went on (some with the French Underground) but never would he elaborate on his experience at the concentration camp.
