Tsunami expected in Hawaii at 11am local today

Looks like it's on the way, The reef at magic island is pretty exposed on the channel 2 news feed
 
The shot of Hilo Bay with boats... I saw a biggie cresting a breakwall... the commentator kept talking like he didn't see it. Was I imagining that? It looked like a slow wall of water.
 
Channel 2 must have been pranked. Some dude pretended to be an authority calling in, then played it a bit, then dropped the C word.
 
Looks like the pacific Tsunami Center recorded a 36" rise, but that could be the beginning of the wave sequence
 
The reports of water discoloration and receding... that would normally come more than some minutes before the larger waves? I mean, you don't get that a full half hour before the biggies, right?
 
So there is some energy wave that travels faster than the 600mph figure I keep hearing about?
 
OK, the Oceanographer just explained. Two "waves" have already reached Hilo. Those were minor and lifted the sea about 3 feet. This was what the discoloration was about. There just hasn't been any big waves yet, and maybe it won't happen.
 
Evidently there are several waves, not a single wave, and they can be like 20 minutes apart...
 
Please excuse my anxiousness. I've never seen this happen live. I saw the Thailand stuff from camcorders.
