What about this crop circle?

I don't know that it was a crappy circle... It may well have been quite a good one, though I'm sure that when it discovered to be made by people, it will have been described subjectively as crappy.

Yep. Now Limbo is committing the No True Scotsman Crop Circle fallacy.

He's a one-man lesson in flawed logic.

Why? Because they are so expensive/acre, or because of the prickers?

I hadn't thought about the expense (good point). I was thinking of the thorns, the messy and stainy juice, and the fact that where they're cultivated, they're tied to stakes or something.

Stray Cat have you read Government Circles by Colin?

"Andrews' recent book Government Circles blasted holes in the British Government's official statement that they were not involved in crop circle research nor did they issue a gag order on the media ('D Notice') surrounding the famous surveillance project 'Operation Blackbird' in 1990. Andrews has shown evidence that they lied and he has also published documentary evidence that high level meetings took place inside Prime Minister Thatcher's cabinet about the circles. He has proven by his intimate connection with the Queen that as Head of State, she also was deliberately misled, as were the public and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. In recent weeks the former head of the Ministry of Defense UFO project has acknowledged publicly that Andrews' version of events is correct."

Do you know anything about this?

It's called promoting his book in order to get more than just a few copies sold. To my knowledge Nick Pope has not confirmed Andrews' version of events. Even though the book cover looks like the book may be a joint effort between Andrews and Pope, it is in fact not as Pope is fully aware of the mundane nature of crop circles.
Nick Pope does however, tend to approach his statements with his intended audience in mind, so he still goes on TV to say UFO's have never been shown to be anything other than reported anecdotes with no substance, but he gives it a slightly different spin when doing his lectures to UFOlogists... I guess everyone has to make a living.

Ok, you've mentioned Nick Pope a few times. Have you met him, by any chance? Here is what he says about the book.

"He has a point and has highlighted fascinating new evidence documenting greater official interest in crop circles than has previously been acknowledged. Some of the issues Colin highlights have arisen because the line between official and private interest (even within government, the military and the intelligence agencies) can be blurred. There are particular sensitivities and political difficulties when members of the Royal Family are involved. Nonetheless, I recommend this book, even though I come across as the bad guy."

Never met him no, but we exchanged some emails a few year back when I needed some crop circle information for a project I was looking into.

Yup, that sounds like the Nick Pope who does the UFO circuit. Not firm commitment to saying exactly what, just a generalisation of Colin has some stuff... we have to buy the book to find out how spurious it is... Something I wont be doing.

But Colin Andrews' tenuous links between unrelated events and his tendency to embellish his own importance are legendary in the small world of the circlemaker... Right from the time he first started researching the subject when he claimed quite ambiguously to be a Government Officer. It turned out he was an electrician for the local council, right up to recently when he has described himself as 'Crop Circle Advisor to the Queen' when in reality, his book was added to the Queens Christmas reading list in the year it was published (back in the 80's) and to my knowledge, he hasn't had any invitations to the palace to discuss the matter.

Where does he say that?
I'm not sure he would openly.

I don’t want to derail the thread again, so just a short note about the sheep-goat question Limbo asked a while back. I found several papers in which a questionnaire on belief was completed by participants, but the results of this weren’t discussed in the paper. “Remarkable Correspondences Between Ganzfeld Mentation And Target Content : Psi Or A Cognitive Illusion?” (Westerlund, Parker, Dalkvist, Goulding, Proceedings of the Parapsychological Association Convention 2004) is a paper where this happened, but we know they got negative sheep-goat results because they were discussed in a different paper.

Do you know which group made this one?

Do you?

Do you need EVERY single crop circle explained to you before you realize they are a human creation and not some supernatural/paranormal/alien one?

You're like a child on Christmas morning asking for proof that it WASN'T Santa who brought those gifts, and when your parents produce the receipts, you run from house to house saying, "Yeah, ok, but what about THOSE presents left under that tree, and that tree, and THAT tree?"

And don't get me started on the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.
