Too bad it's not eligible for a StundieTM, 'cause it's every bit as silly as some posts I've seen over there.

And you do know that now Doc's going to go around saying one of his posts was so good it was nominated for a Language Award...

Now that I think of it, it's going to the Stundies for the same reason it went to TLA.

You know what we'd need? We need a Doc award (or maybe name it a Sleepy or Dopey award). Just for him.

Each month we'd vote for Doc's most ignorant or blatantly dishonest or most cirular post... (we could create categories, albeit vote for the worst post overall).

That way, Doc will be able to refer not only to the number of post he wrote, but to the number of awards he won!

And re the "Oldies but Goldies" philosophy DOC has regarding archeological and biblical scholarship: Archeological techniques have advanced a lot since then, leading to better preservation of artefacts and inscriptions. Said objects are better described than back then, we also advanced in dating technology and also a lot more info about digs and found objects is available via internet and the assorted scientific infrastructure.
That is to say modern scholars are better informed than those 150 years ago (or at least can be if they know how and put the effort into it). That also allows us to discard forgeries like never before because we have better references and we are able to contact the experts in the field either by using public directories or via email.

Well, at this point, after 17 months and so many thousand posts and so many lies, a point can be made that Doc might as well keep on digging, he's probably closer to China than from his point of origin by now...

I think the saddest part of the whole thread is that DOC misses out on all the new books and articles written. :(

Interesting this appears to imply that you prefer that people explain thier positions and support them. However you spend a significant amount of your time here (when not cutting and pasting from old posts or other websites)responding in sniping ways to the sniping posts then complain about all the sniping going on.

I am attempting to engage you in the discussion seem to want to have but seem to be largely ignored for it (except for the pats on the head from the veteran posters). What is your purpose here, to learn, to discuss, to preach or to troll? (not attempting to set up a false dicotomy here...)

Nope, I posted before I read your post. I try not to post before reading all the other new ones, but sometimes the chance for a smart-ass remark is too good to miss. :p

The problem is that DOC only seems to have about 6 discrete posts on which to draw. He recycles them as necessary. He's going to have to come up with some new material to earn this honor.

We actually have, many, journals and diaries (written during the facts) of people witnessing or even participating in the events. It really was quite fashionable at the time compared to today.

We also have memoirsand autobiographies, written after the fact but by confirmed witnesses.

We also have many, many letters written at that time and referencing the events.

We also have a lot of Newspapers in many countries.

We have official documents and transcripts (like, minutes from meetings and such).

We also have artifacts and archaeological evidences.


No evidences? If you are purposely trying not to see them, maybe... Well, no, not even then... you are probably lying once more.

Nice post. Good analysis and I liked the final wit...

The thing is... Doc doesn't know much on the subject, is not willing to learn (too lazy or too afraid that it might challenge his beliefs) so he can't deal with long, well argumented posts (and, he might be too lazy to read them) so he largely ignore them.
That leaves him with the mid to short posts. He sometime tackle the middle length ones but, once again, has little abilities to do so.

So, he mostly likes to deal with the shortest ones, and sometime isolate random bits of longer posts, essentially treating them as short posts. Thanksfully for Doc, these short posts are, by their very nature, often limited to snippy comments, which just happen to be easier to deal with when you live in an reasoning vacuum...

I would say to recycle them as absolutely, terribly, teffifyingly UNnecessary but, you make a good point.

The 'we have no proof of the American revolution' was new though, but likely so demonstrably stupid, even more so than usual, that Doc is likely to class it as "untransformed" and not reuse it again.
