UFOs: The Research, the Evidence

It will be interesting to read what rRamjet has to say about aliens.

UFOs were one of the topics for BBC Raidio 4's 'Today] programme this morning; also Chinese lanterns were the subject of quite a lengthy item on another programme, along with an interview with a manufacturer, who is modifying them to make them better ecologically, so that they will be bio-degradable and not harm animals.

Here's not here to talk about aliens, he's on a crusade. I'd do a picture of a fairground hawker selling bottles of snake oil but it'd only get moved. ;)

Waiting for what? the second coming? That's more likely to happen than some evidence for UFOs.

Hey - what if I posted, a la Rramjet, all the links relating today's news from the UK? That means that we would have more evidence, and therefore could concur that aliens exist.

we have enough evidence for UFO's, thats what the last 153 pages were about, no one at any point denied that UFOs exist except for Rramjet, hes the only UFO debunker here
we are waiting for evidence of Aliens
try to keep up old chap

And if I repeated it it would make it even more conclusive -

As long as you didn't post 'too much' evidence or we'd all have to concur that aliens had taken over the planet and enslaved us all to work in their mines as they raped our planet of it's natural resources whilst flattening all the wheat in our fields into pretty patterns...

My apologies. I should have worded the last word to read ''Aliens'' not UFOs. :p

<insert picture>A movie poster with the title Quatermass and the Bottomless Pit of Anecdote. Which shows a horrified scientist being expelled from his office whilst carrying a copy of UFO magazine in one hand and Squid Fishing Monthly in the other</insert picture>

I was so tempted to nominate this to go with the others.

Not only very apt and on topic, but an excellent piece of art-work. Well done.:popcorn1

Whilst I wait for Mr Rramjet to present his best case I'd just like to comment on the rich, vibrant colours you've employed. A deft touch indeed.

Well done sir.

This thread will be here as a valuable resource on UFOs, and Astrophotographer as its main, fine and unparalleled contributor.

I heartily second this sentiment. Astrophotographer has indeed provided us with a wealth of useful information, and this thread is a credit to him.

My thanks to Mr Rramjet for providing this opportunity for Astro to educate us all.

As much as I would be tempted to enjoy the "praise" being sent my way, it is not my intention to attract this kind of attention. I only want to present another point of view. I think others have offerred some very valid points and arguments, which were, as expected, simply dismissed as nothing of consequence.
As I stated in SUNlite 1-3 (You can download any issue at http://home.comcast.net/~tprinty/UFO/SUNlite.htm)

To be honest, I dislike the idea of Skeptics “battling” UFOlogists or “us against them”. I try and view it as two opposing opinions about the same problem for which there is no solution...yet. Too often proponents ignore critical information and it is my desire to make sure everyone gets the rest of the story. I have no interest in swaying those who want to believe in UFOs. They will always draw their conclusion based on emotion. I am more interested in providing the information to those willing to make a more objective evaluation of the evidence.

I have tried to be objective with Rramjet's presentation but it has been combative since day one and has, unfortunately, sent me down that path as well. The evidence presented to date can be interpreted many ways. Could it be evidence of aliens? Sure but it could be evidence of many things (i.e. gods, dragons, angels, fairies, etc.). We have no evidence that proves aliens even exist (only that it is probable that aliens do exist). The only thing we know for sure about UFO reports to date is that a great majority are misidentifications/hoaxes. Until better evidence surfaces, that is where it will stand.

Repeating the tried and failed process of debating old cases ad infinitum achieves nothing. I wish UFO proponents would understand this and move on to actually gathering real scientific data about UFOs. I have already suggested how this could be done but no UFO proponent seems to have the courage or intellect to attempt it. It is much easier to dig up old 'unsolved' cases for digestion by the mindless masses.

Hey, Stray Cat, what about a thread with your work at the Hunor section?
We could always link to them when the proper situation arises...
