The photos were obtained by ABC News, which filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the National Institute of Standards and Technology last year. The NIST collected the images as part of its investigation into the terrorist attack.

ABC said it was provided 2,779 pictures on nine CDs. Many of the photos, taken from police helicopters, have never been released before.

I can't wait to see more of these photos. I suspect it should be really typical and interesting in what the truthers have to say about the photos.

Expect to hear 2,779 comments like "See the way that thing goes like that? That doesn't look right" or "That doesn't look like something you'd see in a normal collapse, definately controlled demolition" or "Those are the telltale signs of nanothermite detonations".

Holy cow! Building 7 was SWAMPED in a pyroclastic flow!

I wonder why it collapsed? Must have been explosives.

;)

"They've had 9 years to doctor those photos, dude. They're not proof of... what? Mom, not now! I'm talking on the internet! I'll take the trash out later, okay?"

#1 at ATS:

That sure is a heck of a lot of dust and Smoke from buildings "falling" down.

Shouldn't the buildings just have broken and collapsed into a pile?

one of those pics sorta/maybe/kinda looks like a mushroom cloud.

mini-nuke anyone??

:)

Q#2: Did they do as good a job of pixel manipulation as NASA did on the moon pictures?

We probably can't - I'd assume they have to negotiate with the copyright owners before they can put them online.

Actually, I believe that NIST has stated in the past that they were checking with the owners of the photographs to find out what they can release via FOIA requests so presumably all of them released to ABC are in the public domain. The number released is about half of what they said that they had.

That's checking whether they objected to it being released at all, not to making it public domain. Release of data via FOIA doesn't transfer copyright. Of course there may have been negotiations on that point before, and now ABC have thousands of images I'm sure there will be more, so we'll have to wait and see what turns up.

S'okay - actually I hope you're right! It would be very interesting to have the whole set available. And of course if there's anything less then we'll forever be hearing talk of how some photos have been "suppressed" by the evil mainstream media...

Those are the ones in which the spooks are seen walking into WTC 7 with armloads of C4

Lots of them seem to be credited to NYPD helicopter pilot Greg Semendinger. These must be in the public domain, no?

I don't know what the situation is with police photos. Maybe. Or perhaps it was just easier to negotiate with the NYPD, because they had no commercial interest, so that's why their photos have appeared first?
