In other words inequality has more disbenefits to society, especially for those who are rational enough to reject the obsession with material wealth focusing on well being or happiness instead.
I think this tells us how to solve many of our social, health and education problem, but why do we never take any notice? Is our obsession with becoming richer than the next man an irrational reaction caused by our selfish genes, and how do we counter this primeval drive?

Moreover, the view that greater equality would stifle diversity has to be set against the counter view that it is inequality that suppresses the ability of individuals to develop their talents."
