Ancient Pyramids and other structures, astronomical alignment & similarity.

Why not do your own research and tell us?

The ball court is 272 ft by 199 ft...

MUCH smaller than a soccer field..but similar to a regulation football field...

My point in making the query was that I think it would be UNLIKELY to find two sports facilities on different continents that had less than 2% differences in footprint sizes and general shapes.

However this point is useless as it compares two structures with the same function, which is not the case with these pyramids.

Please refer to the table here which shows that Mesoamerican ball courts were not of a standardised size and then tell me which measurements you cherry picked for your comparison
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoamerican_ballcourt#Size_and_shape
then take a look at the playing area

more like squash than anything else

no it doesn't, the function of a ball court was ritual sacrifice, how does that compare with a game not even invented until over a 1000 years later on a different continent with a different ball, different rules and from a different culture.
What is this now, you are so desperate again to prove you have something to say on this subject that you'll say anything no matter how unfounded or ridiculous it sounds. If the ball court and a soccer field were the exact same dimensions it would still be well within the bounds of coincedence, there is no evidence of contact here no matter how much you want to believe in E.T.

get with the program KotA, do the research or don't bother posting

Yeah, I knew I was gonna get that one back in the kisser...

Well done.

Where's the thread, I'm a glutton for punishment. I learn by ridicule.

Geez mate, you are sooooo in exactly the right place.

But really, sorry for wasting your time.

Not at all. My remark was a cheap shot, and I apologise for it.

*I find it ironic that "Akhenaten" would argue that the authors of history don't try to 'alter' the record to suit them.

Ironic is one of my middle names.

Re-Horakty Nepherkheperironic Waenre Akhenaten.

See?

Seriously though, rewriting bits of history to favour the current Pharaoh was a bit of a Royal passtime in Egypt. I'm amazed that historians can sort it out the way they do.

No, but some tried to erase him, or at least his influence...if I'm not mistaken. I'm really not that much of a researcher.

I just remember bits and pieces of interesting crap.

Me too. :)

Akhenaten invented Monotheism, which means he is the ultimate founder of all three Abrahamic religions - Judaism, Christianity and that other thing.

At least that's the official story. My take is that he was trying to invent Atheism, and the Atenism thing is just a translation error.

By "dead," I assume you mean "beginning the journey from this world to a better world (namely Australia)." I know the Book of the Dead wasn't painted on the walls of the pyramids, but I'm sure the section on "The Journey to Australia" is recorded in some holy text.

It will be shortly.

* opens Photoshop, cackling insanely.

Odd. When I check it on Google Maps I can not find any match up.

No, they're only close to lined up, and I think it's just an aesthetic arrangement, with ABSOLUTELY NO RELIGIOUS OR ASTRONOMICAL SIGNIFICANCE, KotA.

:)

The lay of the land determined a lot of the positioning, as well, I think.

hmmm, theres another official story to the invention of monotheism,
which is better supported and factually correct
not that those two things are required reading in this thread
:p

Don't sell yourself short, dude.

It's an absolutely amazing coincidence, and I don't blame anyone for thinking "Hmmmm" before they learn all the facts.

There's nothing wrong with finding patterns - it's what humans do best.

Not so much coincidence as ignoring every other structure that doesn't meet his preconception.

Here's the base area (metres) of the top 6 pyramids in Mesoamerica compared with Egypt.

Mesoamerica
Cholula |202,500
Teotihuacan |49,952
Xochitecatl |14,000
Tenochtitlan |8,000
Tenayuca |3,100
Chichen Itza |3,058

Egypt
Khufu |53,038
Sneferu |48,400
Khafra |46,333
Sanakht|40,000
Sneferu | 35,344
Sneferu Endures | 20,736

Why are we comparing the 2nd largest Mesoamerican pyramid with the largest Egyptian pyramid if not attempting to force the data to suit the "hypothesis"?

You're kidding aren't you, Australia has one of the most liberal "right to slience" laws on Earth

The reason for that is that we're all inveterate liars, and the coppers reckon they can find out a whole lot more if they don't give the baddies an opportunity to start on the creative alibis.

Anyway, as a visiting head of state don't you have diplomatic immunity anyway

All good if I have my passport on me, but luggin' a four-tonne stele everywhere I go is just more trouble than it's worth.

Wow...truly, I've never even heard of this "Cholula" complex...

Although, after looking at it, I am not sure I'd call it a pyramid.
