As I understand it, the Jewish religion is a tradition based on ethical behavior. Like most religions, it's texts such as the old testiment are full of crazy and violent ideas. Also, as with most organized religions it has been used by politicians and power brokers to further their agendas. The Talmud is nothing more than multiple volumes of dissenting opinions, debate, dissertations and diatribe on Jewish Law that was influenced by Babylonian mystery religion. Pretty creepy and cultish in my opinion, but that can probably be said of most all cults and religions. Most of the Jewish people I have known don't take any of their religion other than the do unto others aspect, any more seriously than I take the Catholic religion that I was born into.
