Establishing the reality of synchronicity.![]()
Yeah. Except for two things. One, I don't believe in coincidence. Two, my wife knew I was coming home. She was at the door right when I opened it. She wasn't waiting at the door for me...she went to the door at the same time.
That kind of bizarre thing happens between us all the time. We've got a thing that's called radar love.

What's your best example?
Isn't that sort of thing supposed to happen? My husband seems to think I'm supposed to be able to read his mind and gets pissed off when I don't.

I was just wondering if you have another one that would be off the charts in terms of unlikelihood.Wasn't that enough? There are plenty of examples of synchronicity all over, and in this thread, correct? If all that isn't enough, one more from me won't make any difference.
Yes, I've read it and I agree with your assessment.Have you read Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle by Jung? Very good book.
Yes, brains of close people are supposed to be 'entangled' to some degree, so to speak. Unless one is a pathologically pseudo-skeptical goat, I guess.
I don't suppose it's possible that you were supposed to call your boss, but didn't (because after all, you didn't have your cell phone), and so he called you?He shouldn't have called at all. His calling me was unusual. I call him.
In Post #1021, Limbo stated that 10:57 was just an hour into his shift, and so I doubt if his boss would have expected a telephone call by that time. In fact, it's not clear that a telephone call takes place between Limbo and his boss every day, only that -- on those occasions when a call does take place -- Limbo generally calls his boss, rather than his boss calling him. Perhaps Limbo can clarify how often he calls his boss.I don't suppose it's possible that you were supposed to call your boss, but didn't (because after all, you didn't have your cell phone), and so he called you?
Nah. It's the universe bending around you.

You sure do get worked up about this stuff. A guy's boss calls while he's on duty. The guy leaves his phone at home, and his wife meets at the door with the phone after she's alerted to the missing phone by way of a phone call from the boss.
Wow. That sure needs some splainin!

Holy crap, I can't believe that this thread is still rocking!
I haven't been keeping up, just wanted to drop in and suggest that perhaps believing in Synchronicity is a lot like believing in Love.
A strict materialist reductionist could deny that Love exists as a real thing; no, the evolutionarily-sculpted brain chemicals involved explain it all - no need for this meaningless, mystical notion of "Love" to muddy the waters!
There is no way to prove that Love exists, as a real and meaningful thing - but to those who believe in it, no proof is necessary. And those who seek to explain away Synchronicity with statistics or explain away Love with biochemistry look kinda silly to those who believe.
I believe in Love - and I believe in Synchronicity. Irrational, or romantic?
Whatever.![]()
PS - Happy Holidays everyone!
Joe the Juggler said:that's also how the game of synchronicity is played. If you have an LSD "mystical experience" about teapots, there seems to be no time limit on how long you get to look for something you can shoehorn into being a significant or meaningful event.

I was at the football game yesterday with my husband and he left for a bathroom break. While he was gone, I texted him to get me some water. When he came back he was carrying a bottle of water and said, "here's some water". An hour or so later I discovered that he had never received my text message.
