UFOs: The Research, the Evidence

@ KotA

Mate, my apologies, but I stuffed up the quote in post #3157 and attributed some of your words to the wrong person.

It was an accident, and when you look at who I misattributed the quote to I hope you'll have a chuckle, as I did.

Thanks to Audible Click for pointing out my error.

Cheers KotA, now, where were we? I think it's your turn.

:)

Agreed.

However, if each radar signal, or 'contact' is noted by both time and origin, then you could not only plot possible destination(s) (like the home of a residing President), but you could calculate its speed.

So what kinds of geese fly in perfect straight lines at 3000 ft, at speeds faster than our jets?

A meteorite, or a shower of them. Happens all the time.

Nice! Are you civil, contract, etc.? What types of systems/aircraft do you work on? Sorry for the questions and the derail, I'm just interested. I, too, am in the broad world of space/aerospace.

Ex-military Cobber. Maiinly light FW and light/medium RW. Think Blackhawk. I have a lot of time up in the ancillary instrument and electrical workshops as well as field operations. Radio isn't my long suit, but I do well with the associated nav aids etcetera.

No secrets, so fire away with the questions matey, but remember the topic or we'll have to go to the naughty corner.

Cheers, and good to meet you,

Dave

My one and only UFO experience involved a flock of geese at night. On their first pass my friends and I saw a large triangular shaped craft pass over. We were all awestruck until they circled back and some of them honked. For at least a full minute, my mind went over all the details of what I had seen. The ship was huge (the geese were only 50 to 100 feet over head), silent, solid, and definitely powered as it was turning. Funny how the mind fills in details.

Where you near a water source, or is it possible that the "1st" fly over WAS a UFO, then a few moments later, the geese flew over...?

I've never NOT 'heard' geese as they were flying over. The honking never stops, as far as 'I' know.

Okay, so you have relatively little experience seeing geese, then.

Thank you for the information, we definitely have something in common. I won't stray from the topic, though it is gravitating towards that general area. I'm sure I will be able to get a few in before the thread shifts gears :)

Good to meet you as well!

I have.

Canada geese gather in the fields behind our house at certain times of the year. It's pretty impressive when a few dozen come over at rooftop height in gathering darkness, with just the faint hiss of wind over their wings.

Didn't Project Blue Book put an end to this nonsense decades ago?

Nothing can put an end to nonsense, amb, it's the most persistent form of information in the universe.

Unfortunately, very true. But then again, what could I have a giggle at if suddenly reason won out? Who would buy all the books at the ''new age'' section of bookstores?

That's because you didn't hear the silent flocks and look up to see them.

Good point.

That, and Geemack is correct. I have relatively little experience in geese sighting. Maybe only once every other year or so, for the last 30 years or even less. I am always bewildered at how far their 'honks' carry. With the dense tall tree line around my yard, I almost always 'hear' them before I see them.

Now, Wolrab claimed to have two 'connected' sightings. First he and his group 'saw' a silent solid triangular silent shape fly over... Question for Wolrab: "Did you see the thing 'turn' and head back toward and over you, or were the two sights just that '2' different sightings?"

I posed the question, "...is it 'possible' that the first sighting WAS a UFO?"

Again, this comes from relatively little experience, but I've never seen geese fly in a 'closed' triangular pattern. They are always in a non-se-metrical open "V" formation.

I think the phrase, "People see what they 'expect' to see.", IS true.

Project Blue Book was supposedly the last official government 'investigation' of UFO's. The finding was that the phenomena didn't represent a national security threat.

Since then there have been no 'official' government investigations of the UFO phenomena.

They were geese alright. It was full dark and we were all waiting turns on my brother's telescope. We were all (5 or 6 of us) looking up and pointing out things when they flew over the first time. The geese were lit from below by diffuse street light glow and our minds filled in a solid craft from just the triangular shape. The geese were dead quiet on the first run.

There are plenty of fields and ponds around where they could land for the night.
The funny thing is, as we were relating what we saw (in the minute prior to the first honk), my friend was describing something very different from what I saw.
When the geese wheeled back around (from a direction consistent from where they were previously seen) it was obvious they were what we had seen.

I am extremely familiar with the night sky and an somewhat of an amateur astronomer. This was the first time that I had my worldview shaken, even though it was only for a minute.
My original telling is on here somewhere. I will look for it and see what, if any discrepancies there are with my present memories.

You did review the MUFON report. The radar data they procured through the FOIA show the altitude of all the craft in the air at that time, as well as their direction of travel and speed.

Meteors travel in a general downward direction until they impact, they 'fall' they don't fly 'horizontally'...
