Liberals Obsessed With Conservatives?

This obsession often comes out in movies as well. For example, in Shrek the king voiced by John Lithgow can be seen as a conservative and Shrek can be seen as a liberal. Conservatives hate mutlicutural groups, as represented by the fairy tale creatures (and we can also infer a hidden message for homosexual marriage in there as well). .

Or the Star Trek one. Someone heard "beastiality red-neck" and assumed they were talking about conservatives. :D

Seriously though, this OP says more about Eyeron's preoccupation with liberals. He is seeing secret liberal messages where none exist. And blind, apparently, to the entire conservative radio talk show industry and their fanboys that is based on being obsessed with liberals.

(see? I can ridicule the ridiculous AND argue what substaniative points may present themselves.)

And I believe they show it in other ways too, such as the partisan liberal who deflects any criticism of liberals by negative criticism of conservatives. I don't see tactics like these being used by conservatives as well. I also think that while conservatives do talk about liberals, they are not quite obsessed with them and only talk about them because of how obsessive some liberals get.

Does the first part of this include BaC's oft used "but Clinton is a murdering rapist" in threads that have nothing to do with Clinton, rape or murder? Or Cicero' way of trying to make numerous threads about his dislike of JFK or Rachel Maddow?

And as for the second part maybe a look at the number of threads and their content by posters like BaC, kallsop and boyntotsu would enlighten you as to the fact that must streets run in two directions.

Hew I think was a misspelled Jew as most people got since the word was in the next sentence using much the same context. And Eyeron? Done with this thread? What does your dictionary give as definitions for done?

i honestly have no problem with people who want balanced budgets, less wasteful spending, lower taxes, less government intrusion and involvement in citizen's lives, no gay marriage, and few if any abortions.

i only pick on them when their beliefs are mixed in with nutty religious dogma, insane conspiracy theories, racism, bigotry, and paranoia.

if Palin was an intelligent, humble, soft-spoken, tolerant person, I'd have no problem with her.

It is only a logical fallacy if you are trying to make a logical argument with it, generally it's only used as a means of dismissing pathetic arguments that aren't worth the effort to address directly.

A logical fallacy is still a logical fallacy regardless of the truth of the consequent. At least, that's the way I learned it...

Statements like "generally it's only used as a..." make want to ask to see the data that supports this assertion.

Then again, there was that whole nasty "Elton john totally ripped off REO Speedwagon" thing... :D

Ridicule is a way to not have to look at all of a person's arguments, beliefs etc.
An appeal to ridicule by itself is a logical fallacy, but if you can find one thing to legitimately ridicule then you can effectively "poison the well" making any arguments by that person seem laughable.

I think liberals use this tactic a lot and I think it upsets them that Rush Limbaugh is a master of this tactic.
Ridicule is a way of laughing at stuff that is funny.

I think conservatives are incapable of using this tactic and I think it upsets them that Rush Limbaugh is a dreary halfwit who wouldn't recognize a joke if it bit him in his ass.

A logical fallacy is only a logical fallacy if it's being used in logical argument. Ridicule is dismissive, not logical. Some people may use it in a logical argument, hence the specific fallacy, but I can't offhand remember seeing it done so.

I am curious what some conservatives obsession with that Alinksy (sp?) person is about.
