This kind of claim may even be actionable, except nobody cares about Truthers anyway, so I would guess the odds of anyone getting sued are rather low.

Incidentally, do you have any idea what Mr. Deets meant by a "Centigrade Tsunami??" That's pure wackiness, even for you lot. :D

hey lads, a friend at work went on a rant about the 9/11 conspiracy so i said i'd critically chck it out... everything he told me;

military planes- lie and brings up more unanswered questions if true.
controlled explosion- as far as i can see a lie.
jet fuel not hot enough to melt steel- lie.
they were more but he rambled, when i come up with an argument he looks to the sky like he's having an epileptic fit then just ignores what i say should i be worried and what is this dvd he's going to give me to 'open my eyes'???

oh the explosions from inside the building... is this really an argument??? so any house that catches fire and say a can of coke gets too hot and explodes... is this a conspiracy also.

can someone please post evidence against these after this so i can just come to the one place and show him? or am i just wasting my time? it seems that they don't actually want to hear the real evidence.

Most likely you're wasting your time, yes. A good place to start looking through the evidence is http://www.911myths.com/, which is a very well laid-out site with copious links to original sources; it'll probably cover about 90% of the usual truther talking points. The Gravysites (see the sticky thread at the top of the sub-forum page) are also full of useful responses and analysis. But the problem is that you'll probably be ignored if you quote from websites or discussion groups that refute the conspiracy theories, because they refute the conspiracy theories (and, usually, for no other reason).

NASA AEROSPACE PROJECTS DIRECTOR

I then posted for all to view a announcement from a NASA .gov website
that states unequivocally that a Mr. Deets was promoted to the position of
NASA AEROSPACE PROJECTS DIRECTOR

Yes, Ryan is still correct. Mr. Deets was once a projects director, not a director of NASA. Your own provided source demonstrates this clearly by specifying exactly what it is that Mr. Deets is a director of.

And given that it's you who's having trouble distinguishing between directorship of a project and directorship of the entire organization, I'm inclined to give Ryan the credit for not earning the cucurbitaceae tag.

Hokulele's got the best point of all here, and it also happened to be the very first point Ryan made before the credentials question arose. It doesn't matter who Mr. Deets is, it matters what he says. You can get Stephen Hawking onboard for all I care, but if all he does is pass on the thermite fantasy, the explosives fantasy, and all that, then he's still wrong. So the ultimate question is, what has Mr. Deets said that's not already been refuted?
