well, then let the Republicans contribute to Obama's and the House and the Senate plans.
how much you wanna bet, the Republicans will REFUSE to contribute...in ANY way...to Obama's or the Democrats plans?

The Republicans have not been under any obligation to put forth their own plan. They are the minority party. Nothing they put forth would be passed or even considered. Period.
The entire thing about them not offering their own solution is just political rhetoric from people who are angry.. but at the wrong people. Be angry at the moderates in your own party that are stalling this legislation.

i am angry at the Republicans for attacking Obama and the Democrats every single step of the way. its almost as if they don't actually want health care reform, or simply want Obama and the Democrats to fail, just for the sake of it and for the 2010 races.
i would have been very...very pleased..if the Republicans had said something like:
"we don't think there needs to be soo much reform soo soon, but since there is obviously gonna be some kinda plan, we think A, B, C, and D, should be part of it. we will work with our Democratic colleagues in the WH and Congress to make this happens"
instead, we heard about "death panels", "rationing", govt. health care for illegal immigrants, Socialism, Communism, etc etc etc.
the Republicans have been in the way of ANY health care reform, because they thought it would go down in flames like it did under Clinton. but now that a plan is all but assured, they are panicking. they don't want a successful reform train to leave them in the dust.
for the sake of brotherhood and bi-partisanship, good Republican ideas should be made part of the over-all plan.
but the Republicans still do deserve to eat our dust.

It would be considered, if they had the brains to put together something that works, or even has the slightest chance of working. They don't. Period.
They are free to offer ammendments. That is all. They have no right to excpect the world to stop to consider their crap now.

the health care plan has NOT been released. but these talking points have:
• Lowering health care premiums. The GOP plan will lower health care premiums for American families and small businesses, addressing Americans’ number-one priority for health care reform.
• Establishing Universal Access Programs to guarantee access to affordable care for those with pre-existing conditions. The GOP plan creates Universal Access Programs that expand and reform high-risk pools and reinsurance programs to guarantee that all Americans, regardless of pre-existing conditions or past illnesses, have access to affordable care – while lowering costs for all Americans.
• Ending junk lawsuits. The GOP plan would help end costly junk lawsuits and curb defensive medicine by enacting medical liability reforms modeled after the successful state laws of California and Texas.
• Prevents insurers from unjustly cancelling a policy or instituting annual or lifetime spending caps. The GOP plan prohibits an insurer from cancelling a policy unless a person commits fraud or conceals material facts about a health condition. It also prohibits insurance plans from instituting annual or lifetime spending limits.
• Encouraging Small Business Health Plans. The GOP plan gives small businesses the power to pool together and offer health care at lower prices, just as corporations and labor unions do.
• Encouraging innovative state programs. The GOP plan rewards innovation by providing incentive payments to states that reduce premiums and the number of uninsured.
• Allowing Americans to buy insurance across state lines. The GOP plan allows Americans to shop for coverage from coast to coast by allowing Americans living in one state to purchase insurance in another.

You do learn.as i posted above, the full plan has not been released (what do they have to hide???).
but a few summary points about the plan were released on the GOP website.
as I suspected, its crap. crap with an extra side of crappy fries. and a large cherry flavored crap.

The bottom line is this: the Republicans never had a chance in hell of ever driving the issue of health care reform, simply because the Democrats are in charge of both the Congress and White House. If the tables were turned, then the Dems would have been out in the proverbial cold, just as they were when the GOP ran the show.
The difference is that when Bush and the GOP pushed major initiatives like No Child Left Behind, many Democrats worked with them in good faith to get what they thought were good things into the bill despite the fact that the opposing party was in charge. Not all Democrats were willing to work with the GOP in those days, but many were genuinely interested in authentic bipartisanship.
Sadly, we haven't seen anything like this from the vast, vast majority of the GOP. With the exception of a few (Sen. Snowe and Collins, for example), practically all Republicans in Congress have toed the party line, doing everything they can to stall, derail, or otherwise disrupt any kind of constructive progress on a whole host of extremely important domestic issues. In fact, in the rare instances when a Republican politician has actually tried to work with Obama and the Democrats, they were hung out to dry (remember what happened to Arlen Specter?)
And, even more sadly, I think it is essentially a cynical political calculation. The GOP wishes to motivate their base and appeal to disaffected independent voters in an attempt to make some gains in the midterm 2010 elections. In this regard, I think they care more about their own party than the welfare of the nation.
It is, in a very real way, a "scorched earth" tactic: either we run the show, or we'll do everything we can to shut the show down. In the short term, this might pay off for the GOP and their wingnut buddies in the Tea Party movement, but it will inevitably lead to a seriously screwed up & dysfunctional political process in this country for a long time to come.
Anyway, that's my take on it.
