Evidence for why we know the New Testament writers told the truth.

Oh absolutely, I can vision you critically thinking while I pensively tap away at something slightly less than a Dr Soos.
Sorry but Dr Seuss had talent.
Thanks for directing me as to the subject being discussed. As the subject matter pertains directly at it's initial entry point as to whether Christ existed, the interlocutors biases will be based on their belief. So if I have chosen to persue this line of thought rather than regurgertate the previous 177 pages worth of spherical debate, whats it to you. It is an important component as to your perception of the verasity of the NT.
So your entire purpose is a thread derail and trolling? Gotcha.
BTW:
Rule 11: Posts must be on topic to the thread subject. On this Forum thread drift is expected but must follow from the discussion.

. . . me I believe that there is a core historical Jesus and he said some pretty amazing things.

<something was lost>

Tis amazing, in all my posts I have not stated that I believe Christ existed or not, all I have presented was the contrary spherical POV.

Where exactly do you think Siddhārtha Gautama was from?

On all our maps here at the Palace, that area is marked as "Here be Dragons".

Well, that was interesting; always glad to learn more about Alexander the Great.

So.
DOC's repeated the Prezzie Proof yet again, with predictable results.
What will the next 'evidence' be in support of the OP?

No, I refuted that people who believe in Christianity are not fruitcakes by pointing out that 42 or 43 US presidents publicly claimed to be Christian, you brought up GWB. Sounds like you could be appealing to the fact that GWB is unpopular with most skeptics on this system.

Who is and who is not a christian proves nothing. Charles Darwin was a christian as well as Newton.

As I recall Alexander the Great, Gaius Julius, Genghis Khan, Asoka and Qin Shih Huang Ti; the greatest leaders in history were not Christian. Is DOC calling them fruitcakes?

Not to mention Plato, Aristotle, all the Egyptian Pharaohs, The Buddha, and 4 other billion people who also live on this planet. That's not counting the billions who were born and died before Jeebus was even a twinkle in his fathers eye.

Apologetic Response Multiple Choice Quiz:

A. They weren't fruitcakes, but they could have acheived so much more had they been christians.
B. Their empires no longer exist while America, a christian nation, still exists.
C. Yes they were fruitcakes as they all committed horrible horrible attrocities, which they would not have done had they been true christians.
D. But 11 of the 12 apostles were all killed, which they wouldn't have done had Jesus not been the son of god.
E. I get your point. Appeals to authority are fallacious as they only relate to what people believe to be true and not what is true. In thsi case, world leaders can obviously believe many wrong things and still be world leaders. As such, it is fully wrong to pretend that there being 42 christian presidents means anything other than the fact that the majority of the families in america are some form of christian. I understand now that if I wish to present evidence for the validity of the bible stories, it must actually be evidence for the stories and not misleading and dishonest appeals to authority or numbers. I apologize and thank you for correcting me.

You forgot:

F. We don't have any of their signatures, so there's more evidence that Jesus existed.

....99-99% of the population was illiterate you must consider this if volume of text is the criteria for verasity.

Bingo. In an almost completely illiterate population, stories have to be passed along by word of mouth before they are finally written down. And when you have a firm belief in something, not to mention if you are trying to convert others, such stories will be exaggerated and distorted rather quickly. This has always been one of my major gripes about the bible.

I take it all back, I was wrong, I have been taught something thanks.

With that one statement, you have more of my respect than a hundred DOCs could achieve in a lifetime.
