Australians limited to 24 cans of beer a day

I should add that this "news" is at least a year old, with similar "restrictions" last year if not earlier. But, hey, if it gives a pommy media outlet an opportunity to sink the boots into a small and shrinking group of rev-heads and pretend they represent the country, so be it.

There were over 300,000 people visit the Dali exhibition in Melbourne over the past few weeks with not a drunken punch thrown. Not newsworthy though I know.

I've read about similar restrictions in certain "damp" areas of Alaska thanks to certain natives that cannot drink their firewater in moderation.

Mine was that Australians can gather in mass, enjoy an event, not get pissed and not complain about not being able to get pissed at said event.

Sterotypes are easier though.

Its a 3 Day event, so 24 cans is not generally a daily limit. Once you are in place up on the mountain or even down around the pits to get more you would have to leave...get to the nearest town, buy more booze and get back. It would take most of a day and Your spot will be covered in drunks and tents when you get back.....

Realistically people don't come and go so the 24 cans does tends to limit people. It needs limiting because things get really silly, especially up on the mountain.


I have seen people put fake oil tanks on their bikes...full of booze. False bottoms in large cooler boxes...Cans of High strength Bourbon/coke mix reparceled back into a 24can beer carton...except for the top 3 cans which are beer. Hey...people are creative

Actually when you consider that they're drinking ethanol-water rather then actual beer it isn't really "inhumane oppression".

I just took my hip flask full of OP Bundy. The Member's pre-viewing was better though because the champagne was provided by the ANG. Yummy. The king prawns had been frozen though, so they weren't as good as usual.

Baby bottles. Scotch and milk. Tastes almost as good coming back up as it did going down, just curdles a little bit.
 
My drinking buddies and I average about 3-4 an hour each for most events. 24 for a whole day just wouldn't cut it. 12 oz cans?

Actually, from N.P.R., there is a story of a Twinkie that has sat on a shelf in a school classroom for something like 12-15 years with no visible change except dust gathering on it. I'll see if it is still on the NPR site.

Did anyone eat it though, or was only its external appearance judged?

My mom knew a kid who got a green filled twinkie when she was growing up. Or at least it was green when he bit into it.
