Actually, I got that slightly wrong above. If the time period is less than 11 days, then you don't count weekends or holidays, and if the time period is 11 days or more, then you count weekend days and holidays (unless the last day falls on a weekend or holiday, in which case you just go to the next business day). In the result, it means that:

3 days typically = 3 to 5 days
4 days typically = 4 to 6 days
5 days typically = 7 days
6 days typically = 8 days
7 days typically = 10 days
10 days typically = 14 days
11 days typically = 11 to 13 days
14 days typically = 14 days

Gotta love legal math. Heh.

A week after the hearing, he says he has cut ties with Taitz because she asked him to lie under oath, making him the latest in a string of “birthers” to publicly criticize the woman who has become the face of the movement.

This woman needs help. Badly. She needs to be locked up for the safety of the world at this point. She is one sanction away from snapping and attempting to prove her point with a gun, IMO.

I really don't think she is endangering the safety of the world and as long as she remains non-violent, being a deranged racist is perfectly legal. My prediction is that she'll either end up fleeing the country if she's hit with the $10,000 fine or eventually end up in jail for contempt.

She considers an ever-growing number of people traitors.
She considers herself a patriotic American.
She is experiencing the complete unwillingness of the US courts (and law enforcement) to go along with her delusions.
She is thus rapidly coming to a point where she has exhausted all legal ways of adressing what she considers a problem.
She faces a situation when courts, law enforcement etc are made up of people she considers traitors, protecting an unlawful head of state.

What was that statement again... liberties are defended with the ballot box, the jury box and the bullet box? Taitz is convinced that the ballot box and jury box have been ursurped by traitors, so what does this leave her with?

The taxpayers should counter sue this lawyer for all she's worth and claim that she's not constitutionally eligible to have a dime. Of course, that's probably asking too much, but let's waste her time and money now and she how she likes it.

The violence isn't always glorified. What's always glorified is the action against perceived oppressors. Sometimes, the action has to be violent in self-defense and that's unfortunate, but it's not always the violence that is glorified. A lot of prominent people throughout American history have staunchly opposed glorifying violence. Joshua Chamberlain comes to mind.

If you ever grew insane enough to believe what Taitz believed, and to do what she did, and naturally got the results she got, I wouldn´t want to bet against it.
The same way that all Germans - and all people everywhere else in the world - who believe Hitler´s anti-semitic ravings and think their ethnic group is inherently superior to the rest of mankind and should thus own the world could be considered Nazis.


Of course, if some foreign commie-muslim-traitor-whatever actually did usurp the office of President of the United States, and actually did commence the process of turning the US into a fascist police state while surrendering to foreign terrorists who want to kill all the population - or whatever it is the birthers believe - then I imagine that a significant part of the sane population would not wait until the next election or trust in a traitorous court system, but take more violent action to avoid this fate. They´d be crazy not to do so.

Media coverage of Taitz reminds me of a Doonesbury cartoon from back in the '70s. Mark Slackmeyer was interviewing some celebrity who he didn't know for his radio show and asked him "what do you do?" "Do?" "Yes, for what activity are you celebrated? Is it music, or art, or sports..."

Apparently in 2009 "being batcrap crazy" is an acceptable answer to that last question.

That's a pretty big assumption. Would you suggest that deranged racists like Orly be confined indefinitely simply because they "might" one day be violent?

As for political assassinations, four U.S. presidents were assassinated between 1865 and 1963. Please tell us which of those murders were glorified by the majority of the American people.

They should be treated like any other mentally unstable person who may or may not be one step away from committing murder. Whatever way such people are treated in the US.

I was referring to the Revolutionary War. Your ancestors decided that King Whatshisname wasn´t their legitimate ruler; they couldn´t vote him out, they couldn´t go to court to get rid of him, so they took more drastic steps.
This is not to say that the Founding Fathers are in any substantial way comparable to Taitz and the other birthers... they merely present a revered role model in whose image said nutters can cast themselves.
