Reagan's Legacy - Good, Bad, or Ugly

The Soviet Union had not fallen Apart under carter, contrary to the revisionists. If anything, it had a very effective military, and was only made obsolite by the reagan build up. Going Nuclear was a serious option for NATO if the Warsaw Pact traversed the Fulda Gap.

Carter was running apologia for the Soviet Union and was appeasing them right up to the invasion of afghanistan. Carter also forced the recession costing him the election. Carter was a dove and being a dove lost him the election.

Had he won that second term, America would have been a third world country due to carter advocating Russian Roulette with chernobyl happening in somewhere like Nebraska or in the Worst case scenario, New York.

Iran Contra was giving weapons to enemies of the ayatollah, with the funds being given to the contras to resist the illlegitimate sandinistas (Coup etc.). The Contras did scummy things, but killing nuns is not the most evil thing one can do, nor does it make him responsible for every single death in Nicaragua.

Funny thing about that "appeasement" term is that it was even used on Reagan:

The First Part, he gave them carte Blanche. He appeased them. When he was disarming, the Soviets exceeded the US in military strength.

It is admitted that Carter forced the recession in 1980

Stagflation and fuel prices did not help.

As well as that, he funded Pol Pot.

As for the reagan claims, he made sure that the USSR disarmed as well.

What do you call giving the Soviets Carte Blanche and lowring your weapon so they can reload?

He forced the recession with Volicker.

Reagan got the USSR to disarm because by now the US had a superior Arsenal, and Reagan was not as naive.

Reagan, when he established US military supremacy was able to negotiate nuclear disarmament on his terms.

He never said Reagan was a disaster. In fact, he praised much of Reagan's presidency. He's criticizing the conservatives who lie about Reagan and his policies in order to further their political agenda.

Reagan and his general staff were all so stupid and blinded by this 4th grade G.I. Joe crap, they didn't understand why the Soviets viewed his imaginary "defensive shield" as an offensive, second strike weapon, which it was.

Remember when he was joking around about starting nuclear war with the Soviets on TV? Boy, that was hilarious.

As the man became more and more senile, he became more and more dangerous.
