Merged National Geographic Special - "9/11 Science and Conspiracy" Debunks Thermite Myth

Bolding mine.

Why don't you make up your mind WUBRINY63?

I did make up my mind. I enjoy that it is still a topic in the mainstream. It was entertaining. It doesn't mean they knew what the hell they were talking about though.

No idea what I just read... but it sounded like incoherent rambling...
Apparently AS thinks buckling doesn't occur when a column is straight... Plz see me after class Astute Perspicuous.

Yes, to idiotic dolts like Avery, Gage, Jones, etc. Why is it still an issue?? Because its a source of free income.

Now, do you believe thermite was used to bring down WTC 1, 2, or 7?? Or do you believe the fire from the crash and subsequent fire caused the collapse?? Why or why not.

Yes, it did not go into the detail that we do here. But, it did touch on two VERY key subjects. Fire from jet fuel fires causing steel to loose its integrity, and thermite cannot melt steel. No, not even 140 pounds of it.

What debunkers forget is that many people who don't buy or are unsure about the official version are just that. They don't have a conspiracy theory. They just don't buy the official one.

This special jumped all over the standard "they don't have an alternative" bull.

They don't need one. If the official version into 9/11 (or JFK for that matter) was adequate there would be no need for a special on it 8 years later.

What I don't understand is why are some people for less investigation? Wouldn't it help get rid of conspiracy theories if that's all they are?

I like that this special was done. I enjoyed what I saw of it. It validates that there are still questions about 9/11.

I really think 9/11 has surpassed JFK conspiracy. Why is that?

You mean you think there are more idiots who think 9/11 is an inside job than there are idiots who think JFK was an inside job? Probably.

Why do you think that? Who knows or cares. If you think the fact that people are so absurd to make such absurd conspiracy claims that the media finds it entertaining enough to male documentaries on them is evidence that the absurd claims they make are true, then what do you care about others thinking about your opinion?

Reality is over to your left.

I am just going to have to stick with the first test...the steel I beam bending under weight.

1. Simple question...

How come they used the steel I Beam in a horizontal position instead of a vertical one?

Answer; It would still be standing today, the fire long burned out, if it was in a vertical position with the weight on top.

Case closed.

Honestly, is this really the best they have now? The public will laugh at the obviousness of it all.

Now does anyone still wonder why we laugh at truthers?

I didn't claim because the special was irrelevant or that the fact they made it validated any conspiracy theory.

It merely validated that it is all still questioned today. When I saw the trailer it said something to the effect of... "and make up your own mind" so as far as I know they don't claim to debunk as much as they insinuate to.

Someone should Dylan not to bite his nails when somebody else is talking.

I just this second saw the experiment since I am on the west coast. I almost fell out of my floor laughing when the beam snapped in under 4 minutes. After a laughing fit, it reminded of how the experts at the time had remarked how surprising it was the buildings stood as long as they did.

And people still question the Earth being round and the moon landing being real.

They present both sides. The conspiracy side and the expert side. And they present experiments. The experiments match the claims of the experts as to be expected, and contradict the claims of the non-experts.

The truthers made themselves look like asshats. As to be expected.

The steel I-beam in the fire failed because the temperature changed its physical characteristics. The most important in this case the Young's Modulus of the material. That parameter affects both beam strength and column strength. It affects both in the same way -- both relationships are linear and very, very well understood.

You Truthers cling to your delusions like a fifty year old man who won't let go of a teddy bear. It has no fur left, its limbs have long since been shed, and its stuffing is 60% dust mites by weight. Time to move on already.

LOL Gage is complaining about the scaling of the speed of the projectile in their Pentagon experiment.

I am sorry, anyone who drops cardboard boxes on each other is in no place to complain about scaling errors.
ZING!

It will never help. The conspiracy theorists are so dead set in their opinion that any evidence given can and will be ignored or misconstrued to become evidence supporting conspiracy. The same thing happened with decades of independent JFK assassination investigations. I saw one on the Discovery channel where they re-enacted Oswald's movements and routes, step by step. A proficient shooter could easily hit the president moving at that distance. Oswald could easily walk fast enough to kill the police officer and get home. All of these things are proven over and over again to be possible and the conspiracy theorists still favor their elaborate shadowy conspiracies.

The only major questions regarding 9/11 that are are left are from those who are unwilling to accept any evidence that doesn't jibe with their conspiracy theory. The rest of us in the real world know that fire weakens steel and that buildings are fireproofed for a reason.

It's all the rage in antiestablishmentarianism these days. JFK is so 15 years ago.

What's the difference between super-thermite and nano-thermite? And Mr. Retrograde wants to know why they didn't go all the way and use pico-thermite.

We're up to the Pentagon part: love the truther saying there's no airplane debris while the screen shows a lawn full of ... airplane debris.

Ummm mr. retrograde.

picothermite is known as jalapenos... and they are in my "pico"nte sauce. :)

But it gets hotter than what twoofs have.

and NANO thermite sounds sooooo much scarier.

ETA: Btw... super thermite gets a cape and snazzy tights.

Well, I haven't seen the movie yet.. but I love how you, in your infinite wisdom, know the answer to this question without even doing such a test yourself. Argument from Ignorance, much?

The public will laugh? LOL, at whom I wonder...
