And the politicians wonder why they are seen as being out of touch.

Houston Chronicle
and others jeered when she talked on her cell phone while a constituent posed a question to her.
“In Congress, we have to multi-task,” she explained.

I imagine a congress with worthy people on both sides of the aisle. I think we are far away from that dream.

Perhaps next year her constituents will remember how much contempt she has for them, and vote her out of office. I know that's optimistic, but it has been known to happen to overly arrogant members of Congress from time to time.

I remember when I was watching a lecture given by William Taubman, author of Khrushchev: The Man and His Era in Madison, which was very fascinating. One of the UW professors was sitting front row, and he got a call on his cell during the lecture. Instead of quickly turning off the phone, he answered the call very loudly and leisurely walked out of the room. I remember being really embarrassed at how absolutely rude that was.

This seems about three times worse. It's pretty much an insult to all the people that voted for her. At least do a text message so it looks like you're not being an ass.

ETA: Unless she was deliberately trying to insult the person because they were one of the right wing protesters. The article seems vague on that point.

Here's a clip of the incident. The questioner might not have voted for Lee, but she is asking a valid question in a calm, polite tone. There's no excuse for this sort of rudeness.

Hopuston Chronicle said:
Jackson Lee ... said she also considers the “end of life” counseling as a red flag and would re-examine it.

◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ clueless. What a waste.

Democrats or Republicans in charge it does not matter: The Arrogance stays the same.

When I attend a meeting, the first thing I do is put my cell on silent or vibrate. If it is an important meeting, I turn it off, and check after.

I guess this meeting wasn't important to this Lee person. Why'd she bother to show up, I wonder?

Given that the meeting was not publicized until 24 hours before the event, I suspect she held it to look as if she were in touch with the constituents.
