Alternative exploration of space

Is there a big enough market for much more expensive water? I doubt it.
Well, I'm already amazed at what people pay for any bottled water. Even the gallon jugs at the supermarket are a heck of a lot more expensive than tap water.

Bottled water is not the same as tap water. It often comes from the same source, but it's not the same. An equivalent would be bottled water versus filtered water (ie, Brita, Pur, etc). And yes, bottled water is still more expensive, but it's more convenient. And people pay for convenience.

And the fancier stuff like FIJI is not equivalent to filtered water either. It's essentially mineral water. I don't think that's much of a benefit, and not worth the cost, but there are people who do. And iceberg water wouldn't offer any such difference. It would really be just like filtered water, except ridiculously expensive. How is it going to compete? It won't. Which is why nobody is doing it.

In some markets, that's the whole point. First the socialites are drinking Fiji water; once the masses have picked up Fiji water, the socialites have to switch to Quarky Eisbergwasser. For a while they'll be looking for more and more up-to-the-minute icebergs. In a decade you'll be able to buy Lake Vostok water for $24.89 a bottle.
