Tam 8

I'm seriously considering trying to make over there as well for TAM 8. Expensive hobby from NZ but I think I can make it happen... something to aim for anyway!
 
Putting aside $20 a week to have a fund to use for TAM 8 if I'm available.

Next time I'm going a day ahead and leaving a day later. Running in two hours before the reception and leaving 20 minutes after the MDC felt more like a tactical strike. And it sounds like I missed too much fun on either side... while rushing too hard on either end.
 
I'm going to make TAM8 happen no matter what. I may even sell my soul to the devil. Umm...how does one go about doing that anyways?
 
I've had to cancel my plans to attend Dragon*Con this year, due to having a new job, and consoled myself with the promise that I would finally go to TAM starting with 8. Trading the humid heat of Atlanta for the dry heat of Vega... not sure if this is a trade up or not.

What's the TAM ticket tend to run, and does the hotel tend to run price specials? I'm seeing $90 rooms from South Point NOW, and that seems alright, but cheaper would always be better :)
 
The dry heat is way better than the humid heat, and they were running room specials just before TAM 7 that were much better than that.

The TAM fee was about $400 or so...

I think our group rate for TAM7 was $60 Sun-Thu, $80 Friday & Saturday. Shortly before TAM7 however, Southpoint had a 48-hour sale of $35 Sun-Thu and $60 Fri-Sat. Many people rebooked at that rate, and Linda managed to negotiate with the hotel and get them to count everyone who rebooked as still part of our group for the group rate.

The TAM7 pages are still up. I've gone through them and consolidated:

At-the-door registration fees for TAM7 were:
JREF member $420 ($320 if student) (a JREF member isn't the same thing as being on the Forum)
Non-member $495 ($395 student)
Pre-registration was about $50 cheaper, IIRC.
Registration included the sessions, breakfasts & lunches, and the reception Thursday. Basically, anything I didn't list below as costing extra.

Thursday's Science-Based Medicine conference was $150, or $100 with TAM7 registration. This was a separate conference.

The Workshops on Thursday were $45 ($55 after 1 May) each.

The events were
Penn & Teller tickets $65 each (Saturday or Sunday night)
Thursday night's magic show, $40
Friday night's Nigerian Spam Scam Scam and George Hrab's performance, $40
Saturday night's talent show, $15
