"Neda". Watched it. Not cool.

The idiot just made things worse by acting like a schoolyard bully. TRhere was and maybe still is a pro-democracy movement in Iran, but threatening and bullying the mullahs did not help their cause. It actually strengthened the hand of the mullahs because they could now say that the dissidents were working for the Shrub.

The boy never did a thing right in his life.

You really do have some deep routed hatred of Bush, don't you? My god man, you can barely speak about him at all without layering it with insults. He's been out of office for a while now, I think you might want to consider getting over it already.

But I suspect you are really only just using such terms in an effort to "tweak the noses" of right wingers. Which is equally imature and pointless. Your constant personal attacks on his intelligence and your staggering condescension do not in any way make you likeable or respectworthy to anyone but equally wild zealots.

How is it prodcutive? Do you even want to be constructive? Woudln't you like to actually change some minds and bring people to your point of view? Do you really think the most constructive way to do so is to constantly belittle and insult Bush and conservatives?

Are you even capable of speaking on the issues without this rhetoric? I'm really getting close to giving in on my attempt to keep a "no ignore" policy here. I see almost nothing useful in almost everything you say, and you intentionally speak in a manner to irritate and offend people like myself. Clearly.

Grow up, stop trolling, or get the hell over it already.

The Lefties still Can't stand that Reagan is still a popular figure in the US,

The Righties can´t stand that the end of the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc had ZERO to do with Reagan´s posturing and theatrics. They also can´t stand that the poor downtrodden population of Eastern Europe did not wait in vain to be rescued by the knight in shiny armor, but instead took their fates into their own hands.

And Maybe Reagan's policy of putting economic pressure on the Soviet Union had something to do with that.
Frankly, I pretty much have made up by mind that the Euro Left is not opposed to Marxism per se, but just thinks the wrong people were in charge.....

If I went over the line in my comments to LeftySarge, I apologize, sincerely. I find myself in familiar territory. Where I look back at what I posted, and although at the time I felt in every way justified to say what I said, I feel now that I went too far or over-reacted.

Not sure if it's my own neuroses, or if I simply gave into my emotional response to his constant belittling of Bush.

The Soviet Union was going down the toilet when Gorby took office. He was trying to move the country in the direction that Czechoslovakia had tried to take. Reagan just paniced the reactionaries to oppose Gorby, thus screwing up the process, leading to Yeltsin, then to Putin, neither of whom had the vision to enact what Gorby really had in mind. Great job, jelly-brain.

And I am still waiting for someone to show me that the Shrub got anything right.

well, the shrub did give $50bn aid to Africa.

Marx had some interesting viewpoints, and instead lloking at what others made out of his thoerys, many Europeans took a look at it and leanred from it, picked out the parts they liked and implemented them into theiyr countrys.
and the parts that wasnt liked was not implemented.

thats far better than just say IIIIH MARXISM, thats evil, i never red Marx writings nor do i know any details about Marxist ideas, but i am totaly against it.

Well, the communist party was what was left of the working class after WW1 and the RCW.

The bulk of russia's population was peasantry, so you could say that since marx did not clarly define the proletariat that it was up to future interpretation.

Marx and Lenin had already very opposing views when it come to were such a revolution of the proletariat was posible.

and Lenins interpretations and changes of Marx theorys can hardly be blamed on Marx.

I would have to see more details on how and where, but, with his insistance that it not be spent on things like giving condoms to hookers, I have to wonder whether it was for anything of use.

Generally, Republicans have not had a very good grasp on how the rest of the world operates, outside of industrialized nations and money-laundering nations.

wow didnt know he spend so much on charity for africa. didnt even know he has that much.

But the US Taxpayers gave 50bn aid to Africa.

Yes, sure. You´re SOOO right about that. Less than a decade of pressure causes the Soviet Union to folg where several decades would not cause tiny little Cuba to fold. Now I´m convinced.

Frankly, I pretty much have made up by mind that the Euro Left is not opposed to Marxism per se, but just thinks the wrong people were in charge.....

Yes. You´ve made up your mind. That´s exactly the problem. No need for bothersome facts now. Stick your fingers in your ears, chant "La La La I´m not listening" and keep pretending Reagan is the savior of all mankind.

I was reading a German translation of "Peristroika" when I heard that jelly-brain had been elected, and thought that it was going to make Gorby's job a lot harder, and that the reactionaries would tear him to shreds because he would appear to be turning soft just when the threat level to his nation was increasing. A country can't become MORE free when the threat level is rising, can it?

I could not finish watching it, how horrible. What a beautiful woman, what a waste. What a waste...

Bush outspent Clinton on HIV/AIDS prevention, education, research and treatment, both domestically and in foreign aid, by a large margin. Furthermore, his home was featured at treehugger.com for its rain water storage, reuse of gray water for irrigation, its modest size, and use of local materials and overall design. Cheney was never a dictator. The only reason the US taxpayer gave 50bn aid to Africa was due to Bush's leadership, initiative and his passion about fighting HIV/AIDS. Bush's primary problem wasn't that his heart was in the wrong place, or even that he was stupid, but rather that he was a complete idealogue impervious to reality. My $.02

Yeah, well, whatever. Point I was trying to make is that there is not a thing we can or should do in Iran right now. The people have to decide, like the people of Eastern Europe decided, that enough is enough.

It is not a lack of cajones keeping Obama from acting in Iran. It is his refusal to think with them in Republican mode.

Right now there is a large portion of the Iranian population angry with their government. Let's not stick our unwanted noses in there and solidify the people behind the government. That's what got us where we are today, in lots of places around the world.

And LBJ was a champion of civil rights!
