Sean Hannity offers to be waterboarded for charity

GW Bush is Christian, and he authorized the use of torture.

George Bush authorized water-boarding in the interest of national security. There have been only three cases of water-boarding. Beating someone with a cattle prod, shooting him up and running over his body with a truck would not fall into the same category. Regrettably, there are those who would, shamefully, equate the two.

150 times.

oh, and BTW, Hitler and Stalin also authorized all sorts of things, in the interest of "national security".

National Security has become the big excuse for doing bad things.

Excellent, US torture methods aren't as cruel or inhuman as the torture methods employed by dictators. We should all be impressed.

By all accounts, information elicited by water-boarding prevented another tower-attack in Los Angeles. In the end, I don't really care one iota about inflicting a little discomfort on terrorists.

If a Palestinian throws a rock through a settler's window, the Israelis call him a "terrorist".

Definition of terrorist= someone you don't like.

Yet, there hasn't been any evidence shown to support this. Also, there is no way to know that torture is the only way to have obtained this information. There is no excuse for torture.

Also, the people who tortured and killed detainees at Abu Graib were likely Christian. Do you see where I'm going with this? I doubt the torture inflicted by the Royalty in the link above has anything to do with Islam and has more to do with megalomania of powerful men.

So you admit it's torture?

If water-boarding were really torture, it wouldn't have been used 80 times on one al Qaeda leader. Which raises the more salient question of whether water-boarding is effective. That's my only concern, not whether it's torture. Terrorists are not deserving of the milk of human kindness.

When any POTUS kills 20 million U.S. citizens and commits crimes against humanity for "national security" reasons you be sure and let us know.

Mancow says that the waterboarding he underwent was not a hoax:

We kept telling management, the insurance companies, and the local Chicago cops we weren’t really going to do it until we did. Otherwise, they weren’t gonna let us do it! We got a U.S. Marine that told us he had studied how to do it and he volunteered to waterboard me in return for a mention of his charity.

But don't think that just because he feels it's torture that he's against its use:

The left has taken my message and distorted it as well. Would I waterboard to save my daughters (or any American children)? Yes!

I consider statements from George Tenet and other senior national security authorities supporting the effectiveness of water-boarding to be sufficient evidence.

Also, there is no way to know that torture is the only way to have obtained this information. There is no excuse for torture.

If your life were in danger and a terrorist knew details about it, you would have a different point of view on how far to go for eliciting that information.

Muslims go by the word of Allah, so, why do they also happen to be among the most violent on the planet?

C'mon, Dr A. Cicero doesn't like to answer questions that could hurt his position. He still has yet to answer my question about water-boarding children because he knows, but would rather not state, that doing so would be wrong because water-boarding is torture.

The TBK & Dr.A dog & pony show. Have any children been waterboarded by the CIA? I'm not the one hung up on the torture label for waterboarding.

I don't. I find it only to be evidence of them trying to cover their own asses from prosecution.

I'd stick to reliable methods instead of wasting time torturing people.

Christians happen to be among the most violent people on the planet as well. Why is that?

You don't because your mind is made up and you choose not to.

I'd stick to reliable methods instead of wasting time torturing people.

You mean, like the army manual? Lots of luck. When your life is at stake, fine, don't make policy decisions for my life.

Just how does that work exactly? It's torture if it's done once, eighty times, or a hundred and eighty times.

The debate on torture's effectiveness is irrelevant, by the way.

If it is "irrelevant," then why do those with their knickers in a twist over the three detainees waterboarded by the CIA further condemn the procedure because they declare that it is ineffective?

Irrelevant.

It is actually right on point.

So you admit that it's torture?

The POTUS and his AG have declared waterboarding to be torture. But the CIA hasn't waterboarded anyone for the last five years. Why are you still wringing your hands?

BTW: Obama continues with the renditions, warrantless wiretaps and GITMO is still open for business. Are you going to update your avatar?

Because they rise to the bait of the torture lovers who try to frame the debate as one of effectiveness. Further, it's quite useful to undercut the torture lovers arguments by point out that, infact, it's utterly ineffective.

But that's not the point. Torture is morally and ethically wrong. Simple as.
