BNP leaflet through my door

Yes, thought I doubt anybody really believed otherwise...

The fact that it made the news indicates that it was important to set the record straight and have a little slap at the BNP at the same time.

A friend of mine who is educated (top degree from Oxford), Islamophile (studies Islam, visits the key sites regularly) but naiive (thinks that taxes are too high and that all the jabbering Eastern Europeans on the tube are putting too much of a strain on the NHS) was seriously considering the BNP until I was able to point out that they've made the whole leaflet up.

If the political party in question is racist I can understand you wanting to bin it immediately, but as an Australian who wants no more immigrants into my country I would be offended if I was branded racist.

I have no argument that controlled immigration assists the economies of most countries, but it is very bad for the environment, and although I can't speak for the USA, Australia is a very dry country and it simply can't carry anymore people sustainably.

Your location reminds me. I'd forgotten MaGZ's Antipodean cousin - Old Bob. (Yet again, though, no Brits...)

I see they're still using the wrong spitfire.

I hope they come knocking on my door, because I can't wait to ask whether they didn't change it because they're incompetent, or whether they have such contempt for the electorate that they didn't think we'd notice.

Shame they didn't use a picture of the Hurricane flown by Mahindra Singh Pujji or one of the many other pilots from the sub-continent who flew for the RAF.

Anyway the Spitfire in the BNP leaflet is a Mark V which didn't come into service until after the Battle of Britain. Double fail.

So... No more kids?

My scottish friends have just moved to Aus, with their three kids, to work in the oil industry. Is dingoboy saying they should not have been allowed in?

Couldn't the white people be repatriated to save water?

The answer to your question is yes. And I have a lot of Scotch genes, so please don't call me a racist. I would have no objection to not being allowed to live in Scotland.

I have just been told it is an average of 2.3 per couple, which means it would probably be under replacement level because of natural deaths.

I thought replacement level was something closer to 2.1 per couple?

Not saying you are racist (very quick on the defensive though), just very uncaring of how your oil industry will fair I guess.

If you really had Scots genes you wouldnt call them Scotch. I would have a problem with someone stopping you coming here to stay if you were contributing something to my fair country.

Scotland is underpopulated. We need more people. Roll up!

I have an atlas bought in the early 1960s that has a projection for Scotland to have 60 million people by 2000. Didn't happen. Of course I prefer new Scots to come with skills and other ways to contribute, but so long as they aren't actually criminal I think everyone is welcome.

Of course the main problem is depopulated areas and how (and even if) to repopulate them. There are so many rural areas that are desolate that should have had communities in them (compare Norway). More overcrowding in the poorer areas of the cities solves nothing. But basically, it's nice here, do join us. There's a nostalgic pleasure in imagining the descendants of the 19th century mass emigration deciding to come back, but realistically that probably isn't going to happen in large enough numbers.

So sure, make the move! And the BNP can go raffle themselves.

Rolfe. Going to vote SNP anyway.

Which Aboriginal tribe are you from?

Not one mention of the weather?? I cry false advertising!

[Rolfe looks out of the window.]

Blue sky, some fluffy white clouds, sunshine. Pleasant breeze. Not oppressively hot.

And you can go to Spain for a fortnight if you like. What more do you want?

Rolfe.

I've been fortunate to have worked in Scotland on a number of occasions and can offer the following observations:

- the natives are friendly - even towards the English
- the cities are the nicest in the world
- the food and drink is exceptional
- the summers are glorious
- try not to be there for the long cold damp winter nights

I was in Perth for three months November to January and swear that I never even saw daylight much less sunlight
